So who else is canceling or postponing their Friday night plans to watch Conan's last show tonight?

I still can't believe what fools NBC has made out of themselves in the past few weeks but whatever. I really hope Fox picks up Conan after his non-work period is up. I know I'm part of the younger demographic that watches late night shows but I just adore Conan. True, Conan appeals more to my demographic than the older and currently majority demographic... but how much longer will they really be the majority?

Oh also anyone else in my camp who wants to watch Leno squirm youtube "Jimmy Kimmel 10 at 10" its pretty funny.

Also any predictions of what will go down on tonight'show?

I'm just sad about it--I'll be switching entirely over to CBS for late night. Before I used to watch Conan and then Craig Ferguson.

DH and I are. We have been watching dilligently all week. The guests have been HILARIOUS!

ETA: I even watched the beginning of Fallon last night, and he had some really nice things to say about Conan.

I guess I'm in the "older demographic" (mid 30's), but I'm very much a Conan fan so don't assume it's all college kids. I find Leno's humor to be flat, non-creative and after this whole fiasco also see him as quite self-serving with few defenders. His statement indicated that this was business and if your ratings aren't there "you get fired", BUT he was the only one with bad ratings and a pulled show, so his logic was absurd. NBC wanted it all, Leno wouldn't budge like a guy who can't take a hint, and so Conan was the only honorable person in it all. While $40 mill is a crazy amount, I'm sure Conan would've stayed on at 1135 in a heartbeat. He also insisted that NBC pay his staff off handsomely as well.

Anyway, I'm definitely watching tonight and watched all week! Not so easy with a LO and work, but I figured only a few days left. Last night's was pretty hilarious..you can see which guests are on Team Conan. BStiller and Robin Williams had some great anti NBC jabs and I'm sure many more to come tonight. I will stop watching late night on NBC after tonight(and possibly prime time-not so hard to do!) and eagerly look forward to Coco's return on Fox perhaps? The idea of Stuttering John and Kevin back on TV is also very blah.

janine- I think you could still be considered a member of the younger demographic. I was referring more so to my parents generation (late 40''s-50''s) who some of which like Leno better than Conan. Definitely not meaning to imply that its just college kids who like Coco, but just that we do make up a big part of his fan base.

haha, that''s the best news I''ve heard in awhile :). I think the most sought after advertising demographic is 18-36 (I may have it slightly off), so this is a good thing (that he appeals to them). I agree those over 50-60 may not "get" his humor as much, but then again it was NBC who wanted to shake things up 6 years ago when they initiated the move.

I''m not a late night talk show lover so the whole thing really doesn''t bother me one way or another. However, I saw today that Conan isn''t "allowed" to do any other talk show until Sept 1 on any station. If NBC boots him, WHY would they stipulate that he can''t pursue another show? Why insist that he wait? Because he''ll be in competition with Jay? If they have that much faith in Jay that they''re bringing him back to the slot, why would they even care what Conan is doing????

side note~ every time I see Conan I think of that movie Sugar and Spice about the cheerleaders who rob the bank. One of the girls is infatuated with him.

We''ll be watching as well. He''s been cracking my husband and I up all week!

No joke. NBC is shooting themselves in the foot.

I heard last night that he was looking at moving to Comedy Central?

I love the Daily Show and the Colbert Report, I''d love to have all 3 in a row!

Ooh, I love those two.

His latest bits (from what I''ve seen on the net) have been funny - and I certainly expect him to dish it good to NBC. But it also seems a little bit like a temper tantrum?

Hmm, I''m still hoping he aims for Fox for the larger appeal. Although Jon Stewart''s done a great job on CC!

I''m sure Conan''s got pent up anger/resentment towards NBC for Zucking him over so it probably does come out in some his comedy bits. The part I find interesting/funny is how many celebs are happy to jump on board the NBC bash fest.

Conan has actually laid off a bit this week... the majority of the "jokes" have come directly from the guests. His big thing this week is the "Most Expesive Joke" of the night... which are actually quite hilarious. NBC hasn''t taken him off yet, so obviously it isn''t upsetting them too much.

Leno''s been bashing NBC for years!

Not quite in this kind of situation.

But hey, I don''t blame Conan - tantrum or not, it''s funny and he deserves to go off the air enjoying himself. NBC stands for Never Believed (in) Conan anyway.

The morning radio show that I listen to, interviewed one of the Conan guests from earlier in the week, he said that everyone on the set, and backstage is having the time of their lives.

I can only imagine the atmosphere around there. Isn''t it every disgruntled employee''s greatest wish to publically bash their employer on the way out AND get paid for it?

Re: having a tantrum .... I think Conan is, to some extent, responding to the mood of the country. People are mad. People can relate to getting HOSED by their companies/employer/boss ... by a buy out ... by a layoff. Even though he''s a big star & made of $$ - his ROLE currently is "underdog" being bullied by a "bigger star" and bad bosses who pulled a bait & switch. If it wasn''t something RELATABLE, I doubt he''d be playing it up as much as he has been. But honestly, so much humor can be derived from ANGER -- it would be hard to resist period. Plus the show''s writers are pi$$ed too yanno!?

I''ve watched all week & will be watching tonight. Its a bit sad. Never thought it would end this way. Maybe it will help him in the long run. I''ve watched more late night shows these past few weeks than I have the past few YEARS. Maybe folks just took those shows for granted & assumed they''d always be there. Now that people have had a taste of really funny stuff again -- who knows, maybe they''ll come back to late night more often -- across the board (Letterman/Kimmel/Fallon/Ferguson etc)

I''ll be watching Tonight tonight
I tend to stay up very late unlike you
youngsters who have to go to work in the morning.
But I suppose I''m not your typical little old lady.
I like Conan, Craig and Jimmy Kimmel (Pontiac Garage)
The only one I don''t like at all is Letterman.
he has always seemed mean spirited to me.
Leno is meh.

We''ll tune in tonight. While I don''t think that Conan was treated fairly at all, I have to admit that I don''t watch enough late night TV to have a true favorite. When I do, I tend to flip between them all anyway -- I guess it just depends on who each host has on that night.

Anyway, we''ll watch and see how it goes down. Should be interesting.

Huge Conan fan (I used to say I was going to move to NY and marry him---then I found out he was married and boom went that plan!)...

I think it''s awesome that he gets to pretty much trashtalk his boss....the way the world is right now with unemployment and layoffs----who wouldn''t want to be able to trash their boss and get paid a sh*t ton of money!

Well whaddya know .... just like his letter, he went out All Classy Like. And gracious. And circumspect. Five years ago today Johnny Carson died. And tonight was the death of The Tonight Show, at least in my eyes.

I think part of the reason is that they''re paying him like $35 or $45 million dollars as part of his buyout. They probably don''t want him to compete with their shows while THEY are still paying him you know?

Oh no! I hope he goes to fox instead... I don''t have cable right now!!!!! He has to go to FOX or one of the many spanish or religious channels cause that''s all i get on my TV!!!!!! haha

I heart Conan(and I''m mid 40''s mom of 5

. I remember when Conan came to tv-my best friend had a HUGE crush on him(How could you?) but I really thought he went out like a gentleman. He''ll be back....wish my hubby could line up that kind of severance package. He''d be retired in a minute

god I really hope he doesn''t go to fox - but I always couldn''t stand leno so I''m glad he will no longer be helping that schmuck. My dream lineup would be letterman and conan - but why would conan go back an hour on a different network? Even still - I don''t like fox at all and would hate to see him there. I think maybe it''s a good chance to do something unique like his show was when it first started... dh and I still sing, "in the year two thousand....." lol Andy Richter was a good cohort.
