computer help, please!

hi! i am not being able to open firefox. i get a message that it is already open and i must close it first. when i close it and try to open it i get the same thing. i am able to use internet explorer but at the bottom of the page it says: done, but with errors on page. things do seem a little slow also. any ideas? i am pretty basic on my computer knowledge. no tech skills to speak of. i do have virus protection and antispyware protection. both are updated and current. thanks for reading and any help you can offer!

i have to go out to run errands and will be gone a few hours but will check to see if anyone has suggestions when i return. thank you!

some googling reveals this is being experienced by others using windows vista business. i am using windows vista myself. i guess i will just have to wait it out until a fix is found.

I''m not a Vista user (can''t let go of XP Pro yet

), so forgive me if this doesn''t quite work (I think it should).

Ctrl + Alt + Del and go to the Task Manager. Click on the Processes tab, and look for the firefox.exe process. Click on it, and click the button that says End Process. Once it''s off the list of running processes, open Firefox again.

You can downgrade to an older version or just wait 30 seconds before reopening it.

many thanks miss kitty and storm! as i said i am computer illiterate. when i clicked on the end process button i got a denied access sign? any other instructions? i very much appreciate both of you!
