i recently purchased a pair of silver wedge sandals for my outdoor ceremony, but now i''m debating whether to keep them or not, altho they are comfortable, they just aren''t the type of shoes i saw myself wearing on my wedding day, they don''t seem formal enough, but what do you all think? should comfort be the deciding factor for my wedding shoes?

i don''t wear heels very much, but for some reason that''s what i want to wear on my wedding day, i''m so confused

I say wear shoes that you feel sexy/confident/beautiful in, at least for the ceremony and walking down the aisle. Keep the comfy shoes as a backup. You''ll need comfy shoes to dance in!

Wedges are great for an outdoor wedding. Imagine walking in spike heals on grass!

unfortunately, the shoes i fell in love with at the store and would feel sexy and beautiful in were a pair of pink stilettos

what i''d be most confident in is probably a pair of black flip flops

perhaps my silver wedges are the happy medium

i bought stilettos for my outdoor wedding!! but i also am ordering the little tips to put on the end so that i don''t sink in the grass! that''s my compromise.

Ya, I wore heals to an outdoor wedding once and felt like someone could be walking behind me and planting corn with every step I took!

I have the 4 inch heels for the ceremony, and 3 inch heels for afterward. Comfort and looks.

I say two pairs of shoes are the way to go. But that''s ME talking...

I went happy medium. I''m sure I''d be most comfortable in ballet falts, but I love heels! There''s just no way I was going to deal with pain on my wedding. Once your feet hurt, it''s like your night is over...and I''d rather dance the night away. I have pretty gold shoes, complete with bling, wide enough for my boats, with just a 2 or 2-1/2 inch heel.

I would keep the wedges as a backup, but I would also try to find something gorgeous for your wedding day. You can just practise walking in your heels for the grass, ie. walking on the balls of your feet. Are you going to be on the grass all day? If not, you could change into gorgeous heels for the pics and reception maybe?

I completely neglected comfort (although they''re not too bad in comfort) and got sexy, stunning, confidence boosting 4 inch stiletto heels for my wedding. Mom keeps telling me "You''ll be sorry. I''ll bring slippers anyway" but I have no plans on taking them off. They''re just too sexy and can only be used for the wedding, so I don''t wanna waste the shoes

I don''t wear heals much either, and I wore ballet shoes at our wedding (mostly because Hubby is too close to my height), and I was so glad I did. I was comfortable all day long, and I didn''t have to take them off at all.....I would say comfort should be the deciding factor....can''t be happy if you''re not comfy....(lame I know, but true) LOL

I NEVER wear heels, but for my wedding I have some 3 inch heeled shoes that are very comfortable (for heels). The heels are not stiletto thin, but not chunky.

I also bought some ballet pump flats for later in the day should my feet protest!

I''m going to buy two pairs of shoes- sexy heels for the ceremony and then a nice pair of ballet flats for the reception

with all the decisions needed for the wedding, i didn''t know i would dwell so much on shoes

i bought such a beautiful dress, i just can''t bear to wear silver sandals, i feel like the dress deserves a sexy yet comfortable heel

i''m just so indecisive because i will be on the grass for all the photos prior as well as the ceremony, i don''t know what to do!

That is why, end the end, I ended up with an aesthetically amazing but completely impractical shoe to wear with my dress. It will look fabulous in pictures, and my photographer will know to wait until I waddle out in the grass and gain my balance before he starts shooting.

I think it is also reasonable to have one pair of shoes for pictures and another for actual walking. But, in the end, I personally hate seeing a beautiful dress with dumpy shoes in any context, but find it particularly offensive for a wedding dress.

Well we all know how I feel about it. Can we see the shoes and the dress?

i did it! i purchased a pair of heels and i couldn''t be happier, i''m going to buy some chunky flip flops if my feet end up in too much pain at the end of the night, and returning the wedges i wasn''t so sure about

i want to thank everyone who helped me, you guys are great

Ahem. Pics?

For the longest time I imagined wearing sandals/flats for my wedding because FI is a few inches shorter than I am. But. Heels do so much for your figure, posture and the overall "look" of a bride. I broke down and bought some super cute yet very uncomfortable shoes. They didn''t pinch or anything, but they had absolutely no padding under the ball of the foot and we''re hard to stand in for long periods of time. The day of I put them on and didn''t feel ANY pain. I was feeling too good about myself, how I looked and everything else to care. Just in case the mood wore off I did put in some of those Dr. Sholes gel pads and I think they made a big difference towards the end of the night.

i ended up getting a pair of cole haan''s with nike air which were both comfy and styles...

My friend is wearing Cole Haans for her wedding next week and loves them!

I wore old shoes but changed into cute white and green Crocs during the reception. They were wedges, about the same height as my other shoes, maybe a little higher. No complaints here.

i''m still looking for a pair of white platform flip flops (in case my feet give in), so my search continues for those

Those are cute shoes! J-Crew has a good amount of platformish flip flops right now. I am not sure about white but it might be worth a look!

thank you very much for the jcrew suggestion. i will check them out.

i forgot to mention the best part, i was able to buy two pairs of shoes and hopefully flip flops for the same price i paid for the single pair of silver wedges

Oh, Ficklefaye! I'm so glad someone is wearing these. I got them to wear with my (knee length) dress, and chickened out. They looked great, but I'd have to change the rest of my accessories to go with them, because they'd be so visible. But they are so cute, and they would have been perfect if I'd been a little better at sticking to my guns.

thanks, pjean! sorry to hear that they didn''t work out for you, but maybe you can wear them to other events
1.gif
that''s the reason i bought them, i just didn''t want a shoe that i would wear the once

i found a pair of guess white platform flip flops at dsw! woohoo! i can''t seem to find a link tho

Yay!!!

I totally hate shoe shopping, they always seem to hurt my feet so I am splurging on custom made shoes for my wedding day (which I will dye black after the event and wear again). I don''t want to have sore feet and drag my expensive wedding dress on the floor all night
