Hello all, I am new to posting here but have been lurking a long time. :) I am in search of a gemstone but I am finding it very overwhelming. I am looking for a square cut (princess, asscher, cushion...) stone to match a light sapphire and diamond band that I have. I am thinking maybe sapphire, spinel or iolite in a light blue violet color. Maybe 1-2ct, possibly larger. :Up_to_something: Can any of you colored gemstone PS experts please help!

what's your budget? :naughty:

Well, I would say maybe $2000 at most. I hope this is do-able in the 1-2ct range. I wear a size 5 ring so I am thinking that would be a good carat size on my finger.

Oh wow! Upgradable. I am definitely considering a cushion and the price is even better than I thought! I would love to stay way under budget if possible then I can focus on a setting.

I LOVE spinels!! You get more sparkle than sapphire, you don't have to worry about treatment, it is just about as durable, and the $$ is so much less for stones that are, in fact, more rare.

ETA: I really like davi's Wildfish sapphire finds, but wonder if they face up as big as you'd like. Though the color on that second one makes my blood pressure rise!!!!

Thanks uppy! The more I am researching spinels I think the more I have found a new gemstone to love.

I also LOVE the color of the first sapphire davi posted and the sapphire maebelle posted.

I LOVE    your band. I think of all the stones suggested I like Uppy's spinel the best. :naughty: Something about the purpley blue is just yummy.

I vote spinel!

Thanks gempassion. I think right now I have narrowed it down to a specific spinel I found in a cushion cut or seeing if Peter has any rough left to cut an asscher. Decisions decisions :loopy:

I did it! I bought a spinel! I will post pictures and details when it arrives, in 3-5 business days.

Cool! Can't wait to see it.
