Hi,

I'm wondering what people's thoughts are on color difference in studs - if one diamond were an G and the other an I how noticeable would it be, would it look off?

Is one grade too big, two grades, etc.?

Any opinions?

I don't think it would be noticeable as earrings.

IMO it depends on the diamonds- if one was an ok cut I and the other an ideal cut G I think you may be able to notice color difference. But assuming they were both well cut and in the same range (colorless/near colorless) especially since they're not next to each other I don't think it'd be that noticeable at all. My eternity band has 40pt F and G stones and I can't tell any difference in color at all.

I don't think you'd notice it. My diamond dangle earrings are a G and an I and I can't tell them apart unless I loop them because the G has more inclusions.

ditto PPs - how big are the stones? I would think you might start to see the difference w/ the earrings side by side if they're say 1.5, 2ctw.. with a head in between unless they're 3ct honkers I don't think anyone will see a difference, and even then, as long as they're well-matched in cut quality.

Personally, I wouldn't consider those stones unless a) I already owned them and just wanted to change them to earrings, and/or b) they are extremely well-cut.

I'm very picky w/earrings and want them to be EXACTLY the same since the goal would be for them to be symmetrical and even when on either side of your face. That is me, though, and why I bought ACAs with identical measurements. Those earrings replaced another pair I had which didn't match.

I have I and K and they match well enough.
