Cmas sapphire pendant

It''s been a long time coming, but I''m finally de-lurking. In fact, when my husband asked what I was up to, couldn''t believe I wasn''t a member already, given how much time I spend here. What better way to start than to show my new bauble:

Thanks for the compliments - being a newbie, I''ve keep hitting the refresh button to see if anyone''s replied.\
Violet, it is a sapphire, but more orange-y; not sure what it''s called. I''m attaching a pic where it''s next to my pink sapphire ring so you can see the difference. I think the orange sapphire is about a half-carat, and the pink sapphire is 1 carat. My husband brought the pink sapphire back from Sri Lanka, a week after the tsunami of ''05, and it actually used to be in the pendant setting. The ring used to have an oval diamond that I wore as my wedding/engagement ring, but I''ve since decided to exchange the oval for a RB. When we were at the jewelers today, I brought my empty pendant, and he happened to have some sapphires that would fit; my DH treated me since my remount won''t be ready for another 2-3 wks.

Wow! You have quite an awesome collection. First of all, your original e-ring was a stunner, I love the setting, so unusual! Secondly your pink sapphire now looks exquisite in your e-ring setting. Glad you like them! I don''t know if it''s a padparadscha, but it wasn''t presented as one. Aren''t those more expensive? My jeweler had an assortment of sapphires that fit my pendant, and I picked out the color I liked best; it wasn''t particularly expensive - he charged me $165/carat, so my .5ct was only $85 or so. He said he sold it to me "at cost", but that may have just been a sales pitch.
