Cloudy cushion cut diamond advice

Hello, as of principle I as a trade member can't really comment on other vendors products but as a cutter I believe it will be ok to relay my experience on such issues. What the GIA is showing on their inclusion report (GIA sketch) are areas of what they call clouds by the edges of the shape and facets. In this instant those areas are showing left over (coated) skin of the rough crystals that the cutter decided to leave as-is and get a larger stone in SI clarity. Me as a cutter I would probably act the same. This doesn't look to me as a cloudy SI grade call which diminishes the play of light of the Diamond. I can actually see the cloud on the 360 video. If you carefully place the Diamond in the face up position you can see the fine lines at around 9-10 o'clock continuing up the girdle towards 10-11 o'clock. Could be what we in the industry consider a smart SI. Good luck,

Hi diagem, thanks for the reply.
Would you recommend the diamond to be a good purchase based on what you have said? It will be used for an engagement ring with a thin halo setting.
It does seem to look ok on the aset image and if you're saying that it doesn't affect the play of light and is eye clean then I don't see any other issue with it.

Thanks
Andrew

Andyaus, it looks promising but I don't recommend anything. I also never said it's eyeclean or doesn't effect the play of light. I said it seems it doesn't effect..., but you will need to be the judge! IMO it's a good contender but my opinion is based on the video and GIA sketch solely.
