Which half of your closet do you like better? Your summer clothes or your winter clothes?

I like my winter clothes... I love wearing black and browns and dark reds and I love my more winter shoes. I have great sweaters and pants. My summer clothes are okay - lots of white which I like but I think I look better in black. I have naturally blonde hair and fair skin and I like the contrast. Yeah turquoise plays off my blue eyes and pink looks good on my complexion, but there''s only so much of that I can stand!!

My hair looks better in the winter too. It''s slightly curly/wavy and actually looks BETTER if it has been rained upon several times during the day LOL During the summer it either looks bad wavy or I have to straighten it and ends up getting wavy from sweat or whatever anyway - blah.

I love wearing makeup and dark lipstick but in the summer I always feel too sweaty to wear makeup so I go bare 90% of the time... but of course I look better in makeup LOL

I definitely like my summer wardrobe better. I love sandals and brighter colors. I probably have 50 pairs of sandals and maybe 7 pairs of "winter shoes." Black & brown shoes are just so blah and they all look the same to me so I don't buy them. Never mind that I probably have 7 pairs of black sandals......I like to wear skirts with bare legs or flowy chiffon tops.

I like to air dry my hair and it's hard to do that in the winter. I like the lighter make-up look. Never did master keeping the darker lipsticks on anyway. My skin looks much better in summer than winter.

I do admit to liking sweaters but I definitely could live without them.

I am pretty much cold all winter. It doesn't matter how many layers I wear, I am constantly chilled. The only thing I like about winter are those very rare days when I can stay home and sit by the fireplace while something tasty is cooking in the crockpot. I light dusting of snow falling and a cup of hot cocoa completes that picture. But if I'm lucky that happens maybe once or twice during the loooong winter months. Most of the time I'm outside trudging around in the cold.

Yep, I guess I am just a total summer person.

I used to live in upstate ny and I don''t miss being *that* cold for *months* on end... but generally I''m the opposite of you - no matter how close to naked I am in the summer I still feel hot - at least in the winter I can wear short sleeve shirts or tank tops under a jacket and be comfortable!!! lol!

Oh and the rest of the post above sounds soooooooooooooo gooooooooooooood!!!!!!!! I almost got a taste for the holidays!!

I have to laugh...I am always cold. Even in summer. I went to Mexico last summer and I was chilled there even though it never got below 85. My husband laughs because I wear slippers in July.

LOL! You''d die if you saw our neighborhood back in upstate NY come march/april when everything started to thaw and the temp finally FINALLY reached into the 40''s for the first time in several months... everyone would be out washing their car in t-shirts and shorts and snowboots. funniest thing you ever saw - we were quite content to be wearing shorts at 45!! After I hiked the grand canyon the 2nd time though it was the opposite... after hiking 40+ miles in over 100 heat when I got back to ca and it was "only" 85 I had to wear a light jacket because I was chilled LOL I actually acclimate pretty well but I''d rather be too cold than too hot when it comes to fashion LOL

I love my summer wardrobe!

I don''t love wearing winter clothes because I feel like I get lost in them. And I''m always cold!

I miss my sundresses already. But I must say, it''s nice in the winter because hubby is like a human electric blanket!

ugh - both of us are but the bed warms up quickly even without an electric LOL!

I like my fall/winter clothes better! I love layering and tall boots and high heeled boots. In summertime I get lazier and wear flip flops and with my jeans (which I buy long to accomodate boot height) it looks "eh". I love winter!!

I used to have a definite preference for my winter wardrobe because I liked the stronger dark colors and wonderful chunky sweaters. However, I now like my summer wardrobe more. I have so many cute different colors of capris and fun skirts. For winter, I feel like all my pants are some version of black or different shades of brown, tan etc. I have much less of a shoe choice as well, mostly black or brown boots with a few pairs of flats in similar shades. I wouldn''t even want to count how many different sandals for the summer that I have but much more of a fun variety and I really enjoy wearing them.

As far as hair, my hair in the winter definitely wins out because of the drier air. The humidity of summer does not do good things to my hair at all!

My favorite season for dressing is fall. I love the chocolate browns, reds, and other fab colors that go along with the season. I love chunky sweaters, suede/leather handbags, and boots...I practically have been living in my Uggs the past few falls/winters- I have 4 pairs of them!!!!

Even though my favorite season overall is summer, it is just so hot, a lot of times I just throw outfits together, no makeup, air-dryed hair, and flip-flops all the way...it is defnitiely not as interesting.

summer clothes are probably my fave because winter adds too much bulk and layers to my frame which is already tallish medium and i don't want any more bulk adding on! i'm not TINY so i feel like a sausage in winter clothes. summer clothes show off more of my physique, as well as showing off things like toned arms or legs and in bright happy colors...whereas winter just bulks it all up. but in terms of clothes cuteness, i think that winter clothes are visually cuter because you can do layers and wear tall boots (which i love) and they always have cute elements on winter clothes to help make them not so winter boring. also the colors for winter are very rich, like burgundies and chocolate browns which i love, because they exude the feeling of warmth.

so i like both seasons...and here in CA we typically only have...summer and winter. literally. so by the time winter rolls around, we are really ready for it to stop being warm. and then when summer rolls around (in spring) we are really ready for it to stop being cold. so it works out. hahah.

oh and on the 'cold' note, i am always REALLY cold. i always have sweaters in the car, jackets at work...the house is kept at 75 in the winter (and i used to keep it at 80 when i lived alone!!). in the summer, i feel comfortable if the house is 79. if it's 77 i feel COLD. i'm such a temperature weirdo. greg says i have a threshold of 'comfort' that is about 2 degrees. he says i say it's cold, it's cold, it's cold...then oh its nice, it's nice...then oh it's hot hot. hahaha.

I am always cold too, why is that?? Anyway I''d have to say I like my summer clothes the best. But right now it''s chilly here and I am loving the new cashmere sweater I am wearing. So maybe I will warm up to the idea of loving winter clothes. My favorite time of year is the early fall where you don''t have to wear a coat. I hate wearing a coat!!

Summer clothes are my favorite. I live in FL, so I don''t have too many winter clothes. I resent the space the winter clothes take up in my closet! It''s pretty ridiculous to wear boots in the winter here since it''s in the 70s by mid-day (but I still have a few pairs of boots).

We don''t really have summer or winter here but we do have warm weather and cold weather that fluctuates throughout the year. I GREATLY prefer my cold weather clothes because I loathe wearing short sleeves or tank tops. I''m really self-conscious about my flabby upper arms and would rather keep them covered up. I also don''t like showing my untoned pasty white legs! Winter clothes offer coverage and are way more forgiving to my body. Also, I like the rich colors -- deep browns, grays, and black, which I find to be more flattering to my skin tone and personality. Summer pastels and such make me look weird and just aren''t me. So I don''t look too dark and drab, I carry brightly colored handbags to give my outfits a little pop.

Funny, I was just thinking about this the other day. I live in LA, but was from the Midwest so I had to completely change my wardrobe. Even then, I still love my fall and winter clothes the best. I like the way I feel in the fall with pointy boots, slim jeans, a turtleneck or a v-neck sweater with layers, and a cute knee length boucle jacket or a blazer. It''s my staple and I love it. I jazz it up with a colorfull long and thin scarf and interesting layered prints.

If I had to pick I''d say summer clothes. But for me there''s not too much difference between summer and winter clothes -- San Diego here. I wear a jacket maybe 10 days out of the year tops.

Actually, I like my "fall" side of the closet... YUMM YUMM jeans and sweatshirts, Long sleeve shirts and wool (oops that winter) sweaters. Shearling jackets and Sketcher boots..... I LOVE the cooler weather. I have green eyes, so all of the "wintery" forest greens and Blue Reds look really good... I clash really bad with pinks and yellows and orangy reds... yugh.

I am nore comforable in the winter anyway... I can always ADD layers... there are only so many that one can take off in the heat.

omg that last line - I cannot TELL you how many times I''ve said that!!!!! lol!!! I don''t mind being super hot if I''m not trying to sleep or work LOL

my husband hates pink and I realized I''ve let him influence my clothing choices... but pink really does (light pink) look good on me... I''m so unused to wearing it though... I don''t do "hot pink" in ANY weather ever though - it is not a good color for me at all! I think it looks best on darker skin tones, which isn''t hard to find them darker than mine LOL I stopped tanning 16 years ago and while I don''t live under an umbrella I haven''t layed out or in a booth for that long. In the summer my legs go from white to ivory and I''m not afraid to show them!!! But I''m sure covering them in the winter makes us all happer LOL!

I''m much more into summer and not just because that''s my name! I HATE wearing layers... I feel constricted, like I''m in a straightjacket! The idea of putting on a thick sweater and THEN a coat makes me break out in hives! Clausterphobia maybe. My skin starts itching at the thought of all the scratchy tags. I prefer to wear just one layer, so ideally I''d wear a sweater, but then I go into the office and it''s 85 degrees! What''s up with that? So really, I''m just never comfortable in the winter. I see all these women wearing multiple layers and I just don''t know how they do it. Sure, it looks cute, but geez, I''m lucky to be dressed when I leave the house much less make sure all 20 pieces coordinate. Ugh. I also hate wearing shoes and refuse to wear boots after my stress fracture last fall so my fall shoes are very BLAH. It''s not like you can wear a cute shoe in the slush anyway.

can you tell I''m a little bitter about our early cold snap here in Maryland?

Oh, and I also prefer to let my hair air-dry, but as I stand on an unprotected train platform with the wind whipping around me, I realize I must now wash my hair at night or break out the blow dryer.

Ha. I swear, I''m exactly like that too. It is so rarely "just right" for me. I''m going to print your note and show my husband that I am not the only temperature challenged person in the world!

I guess from a fashion point of view, I prefer fall/winter. I think there are so many more interesting fashion choices. I love, love, love boots but they tend to be uncomfortable. I love cute sweaters but finally came to the conclusion that I can only wear cashmere. No other wool of any kind because my skin is extremely sensitive and it itches me terribly. I hate anything around my wrists except bracelets so I have to be able to push the sleeves up or they bug me.
I am like Mara, kind of small boned...AND short, about 5''3" so if something is too bulky, it just overpowers me.

I am a stay at home mom now, so I mostly dress for warmth and comfort. Count me in the cold all the time club. At least my wonderful hubby lets me set the thermostat wherever I want to. My sister''s husband makes them keep their house like a meat locker.

My weakness is coats. I was swearing off buying any new ones this year. I only really need a dressy one for social occasions. But I found myself buying the rabbit vest with the down overcoat at MaxMara. Hmmm...how to tell husband? ...oops...another thread...

Now, I am mainly wearing jeans. I swore off them for years because they were uncomfortable but now the stretchy ones are great. I finally lost all of my baby weight so I am starting to feel like I look ok in clothes. My latest purchase was a cute cableknit cashmere cardigan in gray. I love the long sweaters but I don''t think they flatter us short chicks.

Good topic.

I''m definitely a summer girl. Unfortunately I live in the Midwest so I am lucky to get to wear true summer clothes maybe 4 months out of the year. I HATE wearing socks and close-toed shoes in the winter months...and my other biggest pet peeve is static electricity (in my hair, my clothes, etc.) When I met my DH, who is from Chicago where we now live, I was in the process of job hunting in Florida. We compromised and I moved here because he promised to take me somewhere warm every winter. He''s mostly kept his promise, thank goodness...if I didn''t have anything to look forward to in the middle of February I think I would''ve gone stark raving mad by now.
