There are many features that will help the sales of gems on the Internet speically as the tranparency of the gem trade is becoming more and more open and there will be only a few who can keep those "barriers" on.

I for one had always been wanting to have a twin report in clarity- It is about time for all diamond reports to have another clarity report (say 50%) magnification showing the inclusion as the "birth marks" of gems like diamonds or any gems. This is one better way to give the gems "character". I think the public and the real gem enthusiast will accept the view of the inclusions as the traits of their own stone and allow all jewelers and appraisers also more evidence where every can review and authenticate their own stones. To put it simplly , give the clarity report on a 50X power magnification and mark the biggest "inclusion" by clocking them in the postion of North (12 O''clock ) , then East, South and West and so forth.

It is about time to add these features so no public have to be squinting their eyes intothe 10X loop or microscopes. This feature will make any registry of any diamonds
or color stone much easier to identify with.

While the independent gemological laboratories do not offer this service, many of the more reputable internet diamond dealers do offer such detailed clarity photographs for the diamonds which they sell... It is unlikely that the major gemological laboratories will begin to offer this type of service anytime soon simply because it is time consuming and expensive in terms of man hours to photograph the inclusions within a diamond and a single clarity photograph is unlikely to disclose all of the clarity characteristics within a diamond (especially if taken at 50x magnification) because inclusion reside within a diamond at various focal depths and thus a myriad of photographs are usually necessary to provide detailed insight into a diamond... It is not uncommon for us to have to take 3 - 4 photographs of a single area such as the table facet to provide our customers with in-depth knowledge as to the type and extent of the inclusions contained within that area... And then there is the subject of lighting, some inclusions are not visible using normal lighting and only appear with diffused lighting and vice versa... All of this helps to explain why the laboratories have elected to rely on a simple, one dimensional, plotting diagram to indicate the type of inclusions within a diamond and to act as a "map" of the inclusions... It is the job of sellers like ourselves to provide in-depth explanations of those inclusions for our customers... If you happen to be considering a diamond offered by a vendor who does not provide this type of detailed disclosure for the diamonds which they "represent" then we suggest employing the service of an independent GIA Graduate Gemologist such as Bill Lieberman of http://www.accurateappraisal.com or Martin Fuller of Fuller & Associates in McClean, Virginia who provide detailed clarity photographs as part of their independent evaluation... Other gemologists may also provide this service, we're not sure, but we do know for a fact that these two gemologists do provide detailed clarity photographs as part of their evaluation process for a reasonable fee... Refer to the "appraisers" link located at the top of the Price Scope pages for a directory of gemologists...
