FI and I are debating providing cigars at our wedding reception, since the venue is a dessert/wine/cigar bar. We have a private room for the reception, but they can smoke in there if they choose.

Neither of us know anything about cigars! We don''t want to spend TOO much money on cigars... and we''ll be providing them for 20-30 people.

Can you get a decent cigar for a not-so-expensive price? What types do you suggest?

TIA!

Elle, Have you considered having a cigar roller there? Basically someone comes to your venue and hand rolls cigars. It''s about $250 to have the person come and then the cigars are extra (between $3 and $5). This is great because not everyone will want one so you don''t have to buy a ton of them. You can figure that most of the guys will want one so use that as your guide for how many to have the person roll (one per guy). If they think they''re going to go over that amount (say some of the women want them as well), then have them check with you first. Or, if a guy wants another one, have them pay cash for it. So it''s sort of like having a limited bar plan... Does that make sense?

If you''re going to go with store bought cigars, I''d get a few boxes of good dominican cigars. Unfortunately you can''t get cubans unless you know someone coming from Canada who can bring them down with them.

I agree with HH about the cigar roller. My favorite cigar brand is Romeo y Julieta which is Dominican. They come in varying sizes as well as in mini-cigars (looks like cigarettes) which I prefer to smoke when I''m not really wanting to smoke one of the big ones. The ladies may want to try the baby cigars instead too.
