I''m looking to get insurance for an e-ring from Chubb. At one point there was this text on chubb.com:

150% replacement cost. Chubb''s valuable articles policy provides safeguards for items that appreciate. If the market value (before the loss) of an item lost or damaged in a covered loss is greater than the itemized amount listed on the policy, we will pay the market value up to 150% of the itemized coverage amount for the item.*

*In New York, the most Chubb can pay for a covered total loss is the amount of itemized coverage for the applicable category of valuable articles.

It''s no longer there on the website and certain agents are telling me NY is covered with the 150% protection and certain ones say it''s not. Further some telling me that Chubb''s premiums go up every year significantly and travelers do not increase.

Can someone who has Chubb in NY shed some light? I called chubb directly and they would not help, directing me to contact one of their agents.

Hi there-
I filed a claim with Chubb back in January so I''m not sure if their policy has changed (I''m in NYC though). My claims adjuster told me that I could either cash out immediately for the amount of the itemized coverage OR I could go to my jeweler, find out how much the exact ring would cost, and if it was more, then we could submit documentation for increased amount (which I assume means the 150% coverage). Hope this helps!

thanks or the info!!! - if yuo don''t mind, could you share who is your chubb agent?

Bill Castro at Total Dollar, but I hear he''s no longer doing stand-along policies. It doesn''t hurt to give him a call though. I would see if you can flag Dani down here...I believe her agent is still doing stand-alones.
