I have previous posts about how much I appreciate the resources here at Pricescope and another thanks to a great transaction with Tom and Oscar at Abazias.com.

Now for the payoff:

A week before Christmas Eve (target proposal date) I met with my girlfriend's parents to ask them their permission and support for their daughter's hand. They were very happy and excited -- and gave me the go-ahead!

On Christmas Eve we had dinner plans at her parent's house for 6:00. I finished work early on Wednesday and had a few hours to finish wrapping gifts and relax, which left plenty of time for the proposal plan. We had about 45 minutes leeway and I explained that I'd love to stop by the local coffee shop, which is new and exceptionally nice with great soft Christmas music, a fireplace and comfortable appointments. We had previously commented on how neatly the place was decorated for Christmas, and I thought it might be a good spot.

We went into the place and all the employees were saavy to what was going on, and we were the only customers at the time. The place was warm and cozy and great! I in my kerchief and her -- oops, wrong story, sorry. I had a coffee and she had a hot cocoa and we were relaxing and happy that we had some relax time in this busy season.

The owner came over and asked if the fire was appropriate and engaged in some holiday talk. On his way back to the kitchen he indicated that the pastry chef had prepared some great desserts, and would we like to see them. I quickly said, "I'm not interested, but perhaps my girlfriend would be 'interested in something.' She thought I was a little crazy because we were going to dinner, but then said, "well, if they look good, maybe we can take some for later."

He left and came back a few minutes later with a pre-purchased plate that the owner and I worked on together that said, "Amy, will you marry me?" in decorative icings, accompanied by a freshly cut rose. He placed the plate in front of her and she read it, paused for a few seconds. I was on one knee with my Abazias in it's Rosewood box. She jumped up as I tried to catch her and hugged me. After the hug I said, "so, what's the answer and, as expected, ;}" she said, YES!

The design I had for the plate left room at the bottom for a wedding photo and hopefully we can keep it as a momento for all time.

She's a special gal that I'm lucky to have met and I am excited about our future together!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
