Both stones are round brilliant and GIA triple ex. Stone #1 is a 1.91 ct. H, VS2. I saw the H&A under the ideal scope and the redness in the color retention. Both had very good H&A with good redness under the lightpath scope.

the #'s for the 1.91 are 56% table, 62.6% depth, 35.5 degrees for crown angle and 41.2 degrees for the Pavillion anlge. On HCA this stone scores a 1.4. The stone is beautiful.

the other is a 2.01 ct. H, SI1. This SI1 is very clean. It has a feather towards the side which can be covered by a prong.

The #'s for this stone are 60% table, 61.4% depth, 34.5 degrees for crown angle and 41.2 degrees for pavillion angle. This stone gets an HCA score of 4.

I don't understand the difference in scores because this stone was beautiful as well. My GF actually liked the 2.01 better. I am not sure if it is just the size or if she actually enjoyed the way it scintillated better.

The dealer did not have a gemex report ready for them, but I will see the gemex next week.

The 2.01 is about $900 more expensive. Any recommendations or things to look for?

Honestly, both stones looked beautiful. It is really only the HCA that is bothering me about the 2.01.

Numbers for the #1 stone will not get you a HCA 1.4

What is the lower half numbers for both stones?

first one is HCA 4.4

perhaps your jeweler can call in some AGS0s or you can go to Jared and look at some, see what your GF prefers? Also maybe go back to this store and check the stones out in different lighting? Ultimately it doesn't matter what the HCA says if your GF is happy but you want to make sure you made the best choice

these are the only numbers i wrote down.

the 1.9 ct ring gets this result from HCA:

Selected: 62.6% depth, 56% table, 35.5° crown angle, 40.6° pavilion angle
The result is for a symmetrical diamond with a medium girdle and very good polish
HCA scores were adjusted Dec. 15, 2001 and Feb. 6, 2003.

Factor Grade
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 1.4 - Excellent
within TIC range

this is the HCA for the 2.01 ct ring:

Selected: 61.4% depth, 60% table, 34.5° crown angle, 41.2° pavilion angle
The result is for a symmetrical diamond with a medium girdle and very good polish
HCA scores were adjusted Dec. 15, 2001 and Feb. 6, 2003.

Factor Grade
Light Return Very Good
Fire Good
Scintillation Good
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 4 - Good - Only if price is your main criterion

we have looked at dozens of stones already. We like these two the best and I just want to make the right decision.

I don't want to buy the 2.01 just because it is over 2 especially of the 1.9 is so much better.

oh ok I think that is different from what you wrote above

the #'s for the 1.91 are 56% table, 62.6% depth, 35.5 degrees for crown angle and 41.2 degrees for the Pavillion anlge. On HCA this stone scores a 1.4. The stone is beautiful.

if you like it then get the 1.91!

What is the GIA report number?

i don't have the GIA report numbers for them.

I should get the Gemex reports on Monday.

When it comes down to it, your GF is the one who needs to be in love with it. So HCA scores aside, if she wants teh 2.01 ct, then that is what you should go fot. Maybe it's the ideal of having 2ct...maybe she can see the size difference... maybe she liked the say it performed better. Whatver the reason, she is the one wearing it everyday on her hand and she is the one who truly needs to be in love with it.

Definitely encourage her to see each stone in lighting other than the store lighting. Once you have them in real life lighting, she may find that the 1.91 ct is sparklier and prettier. STore lighting makes every stone sparkle like crazy.

the 2.01 was sold. There is a new 2.02 that is available.

It seems like a lot of inclusions, even for an SI1. It scores a 1.8 on HCA and has a very very good Gemex report.
