I'm new to pricescope, however, I was hoping to get some advice about three diamonds that I am considering for an engagement ring. Mainly, will they be eye clean? Is H significantly better than J in these cases? And is it possible to get information about their light performance without the ASET images? Also for 1) does it matter that it is not certified by GIA?

Also in general, I guess I want to know if the prices seem reasonable and/or if anyone has any tips on getting discounts or points from buying from James Allen?

Thanks in advance! I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts!

The first diamond is IGI where in the colour grading can be lenient. If I were buying I would think strictly AGS / GIA certified.
The remaining 2 stones seem sold already...

Can you give us your requirements and budget and see what we can come up with?

Thanks for the response!

I've put all three diamonds on hold, so while they appear sold on your end, they are still available on my end. Sorry for the confusion.

In general, looking for a 1.2 carat round at ~$5,000 or less. As colorless as possible and with as much brilliance and sparkle. Clarity does not matter except to be eye clean, and even that is not completely necessary if the cut/color make up for it (since I'm already asking for a lot with the carat and price).

Between diamond 2 and 3, I prefer #2, nice small table, good proportions. Please check with JA for it being eye clean and request for aset and IS images. That will tell us more about any light leakages etc.

Here is a higher colour diamond that I would personally pick...you can confirm it being eye clean and also check if they would give you Pricescope discount...also if they would give you and discount on bank wire.

Thanks for the additional options!

For the G-color, does the light contrast seem less pronounced to you (i.e. the arrows are not black) / will that affect the light performance?

Also, is the disadvantage of choosing a diamond certified by IGI that they have looser standards? Looking at the diamond online, I feel like I can tell a noticeable difference in color?

I've requested the lighting information for the diamonds so I will add it when it becomes available.

Your selection2:
#1 is a 60/60 style diamond that could be quite brilliant (white light) but will generally lack fire. I agree with the hesitation on IGI, how would you feel about the color if it was really a J at this price? I'm not inclined to guess.

#2 has some pretty visible inclusions along the girdle, especially at 2'oclock that would be difficult to cover, although you could place the prongs on the arrow-tips.

#3 Has good angles. But, I'd again be wary about the clouds in a SI2. But, this one seems worth asking JA if the clouds are affecting transparency (think of a snow globe).

This would be a great option. Just under your size, but gorgeous clarity. Has strong blue fluorescence, so you'll need the JA gemologist to be sure it does not affect the diamond (extremely rare). I'd put this on hold and request an IS (idealscope) images. Just be aware that JA will only give 3/email.

There is a lot to like about this choice, but the clarity is based on clouds not shown. In an SI2, that is going to lead to a diamond that is cloudy or disperses light internally too much. You'd need a gemologist to check, but I'm not sure it will be worth it.

Hang on and I'm sure other members will chime in in the next 8 hours (or less).

Thanks for the response! It's definitely helpful since I'm still learning :)
All three diamonds are the same price wise so I don't think I would care if #1 was a J-color since that is what the other options are as well?

With all of them, I'm concerned about the inclusions. Exactly as you say, in #2 they are visible and on the edges but in #3 the GIA report says clouds not pictured which makes me slightly worried. I've asked for the IS images for both of them (unfortunately they don't have them for #1).

I didn't mention this earlier, but I definitely don't want one with fluorescence, simply because I don't want it to look blue when it is outdoors (even if the fluorescence isn't negatively affecting the diamond).

Thank you again!

Here are the ideal scope images for #2 and #3. The ones for #1 are unfortunately not available.

To me it looks like #2 is significantly better? Are these considered good images in general?
