Alright, so the first time I posted, I quickly realized I had little idea what I was looking at! I've done some research and picked what I think are 5 high performing ovals at JA. BTW, I've inquired into the new August Vintage ovals, however, those will not fit my timeline...so I'm looking for what'll hopefully be second best!

These were my filters:
L/W ratio: 1.3 - 1.35 (except one which was 1.41)
Table% : 52-66
Depth% : 56-66 (except one which was 67%)
Colour: Min G
Clarity: Min VS2

Based on the visual, I eliminated those which had a strong bow-tie and those which I felt didn't perform visually.

In terms of setting, it is going to be simple and classic. Yellow gold solitaire, with the band getting skinnier towards the diamond, 4 prongs white gold/platinum (haven't decided which) See attached pic for what I'm going for!

1. 0.95/D/VVS2
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/0.95-carat-d-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-2708334
-Performance seems excellent, a bit concerned about depth percentage (67.5)

2. 0.9/G/VVS2
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/0.90-carat-g-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-3358238
-Performance seems good, doesn't seem to pop as much as the rest (lighting in video or leakage?)

3. 0.9/E/VS2
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/0.90-carat-e-color-vs2-clarity-sku-3116462
-Performance seems excellent, would have to verify eye-clean

4. 0.9/E/VS1
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/0.90-carat-e-color-vs1-clarity-sku-3337625
-Performance seems excellent, L/W is 1.41; a bit longer than I want

5. 0.9/D/VS1
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/0.90-carat-d-color-vs1-clarity-sku-3358281
-Performance seems excellent, a bit concerned about extremely thick girdle

Hopefully I've done a bit better in selecting these! Please let me know your thoughts!

Thanks a ton in advance!

I am on team #5: 0.90 D VS1.
Better table & depth %'s. Eye clean (even with the pin point against the table). Good l x w ratio 1.34:1. Can't do better than D for color. This diamond has more consistent facet size, reducing the bow tie effect, marginally. I love the idea for the setting, and I can see this diamond in that setting. If you are concerned about the girdle, confirm this will not effect the performance of the diamond; from the video, it doesn't appear to.
#5 is my choice. :mrgreen2:
Now, to wait for others to weigh in....

I'm liking #3. This stone doesnt seem to have the usual mushy areas outside of the table. They all seem to be reflecting light pretty well. Under the
table does have the usual mushy areas but it doesnt take much of a spin to have more nice facets light up so to me the mush is kept to a minimal.

Some of the other ones may look nicer through the center but for overall look I think I have to go with 3.

Number 2 would be my least favorite. Honestly, they are pretty decent picks for a new poster (Bravo).

E VS1 - rather the same flavour as E VS2, if perhaps slightly less deep & brighter under table; slightly larger too.

I see no reason to question the clarity on any of these.

Good job on these.

However, I would nix both #2 and #4, for being noticeably less lively than the others (outside the belly region).

I like #3 and #5 best for uniformly distributed scintillation across a wide range of angles. Of those two, #3 seems more lively, but the shape outline of #5 is more appealing to me (whereas #3 is more squared off).

The 0.95-ct stone (#1) is livelier than #2 & #4, but less lively than #3 and #5.

Thanks @drk14 @valeria101 @tyty333 @Matthews1127

Much appreciate your comments!

So I asked JA if they had ASET images for any of the stones and they did for #3, which seemed to be the popular choice! I am no pro at looking in interpreting these, can you take a look and let me know what you think.

The comments from the gemologist were: "The red and green coloration of the image of spread out nicely in the image, telling us that its brilliance is balanced. In addition to being bright, the diamond I eye clean and icy white in color."

Thanks again!
