Hi, I have been reading for a long time, but this is my first post. I have learned so much here. This may be a bit of a boring post. I want to have a tension ring made, I found someone who will do it locally. I want to limit the size of the diamond so that the tension ring isn''t too big (I tried someone''s on and I found it was thick between the fingers). I decided between a 0.45 and 0.5 diamond, but since I can see the diamond upside down in the ring I thought I make it colourless (D to F), then I have read here that the diamond should be VS2 or better for a tension ring. I reserved a diamond on goodoldgold that was 0.47/D/VS1 (diamond 1)but they didn''t end up having it. He has emailed me a second one with similar stats except it has medium flourescence (I was worried about that because I read here it isn''t good in a colourless diamond). Looking through their stock, I found another one 0.46/F/VS1 which looked good (diamond 2). I was wondering if anyone could help me with regard to if I should be worried about the flouresence in diamond 1. Also I don''t really know how to read ASET images and I wanted to make sure I wasn''t missing anything (just nervous about buying a diamond). Thank you so much, this place is so good.

Tension settings involves specialized processes and alloys.

I would only trust a few companies.

Nope, nothing wrong with medium blue fluor, you won''t see it under most normal viewing conditions but it will bring down the price of the stone, just how the trade is structured.

Both look good to me.

Thanks for responding. I have read that tension settings should only be done by a few companies. I choose this person based on meeting someone who had a similar ring. She used to work for their company (platinum unlimited in toront) and she feels they are qualified to do tension settings. He is doing the platinum setting for 2200-2400 (cdn) which I think is significantly cheaper than the other american/foreign companies. I have decided I will take the risk with this ring and only wear it occasionally. Also, the diamond is small so I would be upset if it fell out, but at least I wouldn''t be loosing a whole ton of money. I wanted the simpliest tension ring, like the neissing style. It just said ''medium flourescence'' not ''medium blue flourescence'', are they the same? Thanks so much.

The report states that it is medium blue fluor. Fluor is usually blue but there are other colors, much rarer though.

Oops, I was just reading the top chart part. I also notice I put the stats of diamond 2 wrong, I called it F when it was a E.
