Chicago Hotels

My girlfriend and I are planning on going to Chicago to get engaged. We know where we want the proposal to be but we don't know where to stay. We were thinking that near the museum campus would be best but after looking at the hotels they are just out of my price range. I want under $150 a night on a weekend really closer to $100. I am now thinking farther from the city is fine if it gets us a more romantic hotel. A in room hot tub would be amazing, but it isn't a necessity. Does anyone have any experience with romantic hotels near Chicago? Farther west from Chicago is better than east, south or north.

Near where my mother lives (Glen Ellyn/Lombard) is Crown Plaza, which is a "green" hotel. I didn't end up staying there because stayed with my folks, but it looks very nice and its around $110 a room.
I always wanted to stay at the Drake Hotel (great restaurant and great history) but it's going to be out of that price range.
