I have no idea about estate jewelry stores, but I can recommend the Godiva Chocolate Martini at the Signature Lounge at the top of the Hancock Building.

ceg, your best bet is Jewlers Row at 5 South Wabash. There are vendors at street level but you really want to go inside the building and look at the stuff on the upper floors. I don't know off the top of my head who does estate and who does new, but you can figure it out pretty easily by glancing in the windows. Here is a directory too, and some of the stores have a link that might give you some useful info on what they carry: http://www.jewelersrowusa.com/jewelersrowchicago.htm I think there are more stores in this building that are not on the list, like Diamond Zone, where we had a Chicago GTG a few years ago -- it was a ball! I'd love to join you but I'm trapped at my place in Michigan waiting for the granite guys to show up and polish out some scratches in my countertop... Looking forward to pics of your outing and I hope you find something fabulous to take home!
We ended up being so busy that I didn't get to see much. My husband's cousin is on the men's olympic volleyball team. We saw them play Brazil in a world league match.
My husband has to work in Chicago every month or so. I plan to go with him soon (without kids or agenda!) so I can explore some.
