Ok, so as some of you know, I recently purchased a loose 2.09 carat OMC from a private party. I have since sent the stone to Ari @ Singlestone for polishing, chip repair and setting into one of his dreamy antique style settings
Ari can provide me with documentation to satisfy the insurance company once the stone is set and insurable. Is there any reason why I should have the diamond EGL certified before he sets it for me? Ari can arrange to have it done for me while he has the diamond.
Since I intend to wear the ring forever and hope it will become a family heirloom (hence, NO intention of ever selling it) is there any good reason to have it certified? I have already confirmed the specs of the diamond with a local appraiser as well as with Ari and he will provide me with more than enough for the insurance folks.
I have to decide while the stone is still loose, so help!
