My cat just finished a two week course of Baytril for a UTI. This is his 3rd one this year I believe. He had a perianal urethrostomy done at some point in his cat life prior to when I adopted him and his stoma is really big so he gets UTIs a lot...this past culture grew staph somehow, no idea how that happened. He also had pyelonephritis a few months ago so needless to say this year's been rough for him. The past two days he has not stopped crying. All day long he's been meowing loudly, almost like a separation anxiety thing. If I leave he jumps in the window and cries. If I walk up the stairs to the door he's crying at the door. He wanders around meowing aimlessly. He doesn't want water, doesn't want food but will gobble down a treat or two. He's using the litter box appropriately. He'll stretch out on the floor for a little while then change positions elsewhere. He's just so restless and I can't figure out what he wants or what's wrong. Anyone have any ideas from kitty experience? He's driving me crazy and I feel bad at the same time because I'm probably missing something and I have no clue what it is.

Aw poor kitty! What about kidney stones? Intestinal blockage? Our dog had a blockage and cried a lot, couldn''t seem to get comfortable. Poor little thing, I hope you find out what''s wrong!

Have you checked his temperature? That, or a lymph node check, might help you know if he''s dealing with some sort of infection.

My older cat gets into those crying jags. In his case ithas to do with the fact that he''s lost most of his hearing, so he can''t easily tell where in the house to find me. It''s his way of letting me know that he''s looking for me!

. so sorry to hear that he''s in pain. Sure hope it gets resolve soon and he''s back in speey recovery mode.

Poor kitty - I am not a vet but I will give it a go.

I think there is still something wrong with him. Either the UTI did not fully clear or something elce is going on. A stone is a very reasonable suggestion being he is so uncomfortable.

Regardless - make sure he is still using the letterbox several times a day. It is OK if he is not pooping, but he needs to be making urine. If he is not peeing either he is obstructed or dehydrated - either way, he needs an intervention

Did they do sensitivities on the urine culture? He might have a resistant bug.

If you check him for fever, remember, the upper end of normal for a cat is 102.5 Just know that it is not the same as people. The only reliable way to check a temp is rectally (you can use a pediatric rectal thermometer). If you feel the need to do this, use some KY or something similar. I myself let the vet do that.

Regardless, he needs to be seen. I would really try to get in tomorrow. If you notice he is not making urine, he needs to be seen sooner.

Hope this helps.

ditto. It sounds like he''s still very uncomfortable which would suggest that there could be a stone blockage. I would definitely bring him back for a check up just to make sure that he''s ok.

Ditto, if so this could be very serious so vet asap.

I''m a veterinarian.........

you need to take him in!

Make an emergency appointment, if he does have a blockage time is of the essence isn''t it Ec and Bee?

Definitely take him to the vet and let us know what they say. Keeping my fingers crossed it''s nothing serious!
