Hi all,
I recently got engaged
My fiance wanted me to be a part of the ring selection process so after proposing to me we went to a jeweler who is a close family friend.. the guy has seen me growing up, and has been in the business for over 30 years. My family trusts him completely! He is a whole-saler and hand picks his own diamonds when he goes to Antwerp. He showed us a load of princess cut diamonds within our budget and various settings. After looking at a few diamonds ranging from .40 to .60 I settled on a diamond with the following specs:
0.54 princess cut diamond
G colour
VVS clarity
lovely cut!
Although the 0.60 was slightly bigger it was an H colour and we could really see the difference between that and the G colour. He said the diamond we are buying might possibly be an F. He is going to get it certificated from one of his contacts and evaluated for insurance purposes.
It is going to be set in a platinum lucida style setting, which is being hand made from scratch. Unfortunately it is going to take about 3 weeks to be made, it''s a little frustrating because everyone wants to see the ring, but I don''t have it yet. I''m so happy and can''t wait to get my ring
He''s ever so proud of his rings and keeps assuring me that I''m going to love it. Can''t wait to see the final product.
What do you lot think of the specs?
Also if you could see more of a yellow tint in the 0.60 would you have still settled on it because it is a slightly bigger diamond? I think the cut of the 0.60 was equally as good as the one I''m buying however the clarity was vs rather than vvs.
Cheers all.
