My husband knew that I was on the look out for a radiant diamond (an original cut branded one) and recently surprised me with a gorgeous radiant diamond solitaire ring! I am so lucky!

Having done some research on here, I am a bit concerned about the diamond itself though. I know you can't judge a radiant on specs alone, but the specs are:

GIA cert 1159183657
D
0.51ct
5.52 x 4.18 x 2.67
Ratio: 1.32 (I love the rectangle look)
Table: 67%
Depth: 63.9%

No details of crown/pavilion %.

The diamond is the crushed ice look, which I personally love. It is a very bright light and full of rainbow pinfire, but I worry that there is some table is bigger than the depth and at some angles, there are definite tilt windows and I was wondering whether this is because of the larger table?

I do love it (and him, obviously) and think I might just be over analysing everything (too much information can be a bad things I suppose)!

I wish I could post a picture to get some real feedback - the lighting in our rented flat is awful though and every time I try and take a photo in macro, the background is all orange! Will keep trying.

Thanks

How lovely of your Husband, I love hearing about things like that! It's a D colour too? How wonderful! As you have read, you can't judge a radiant by the numbers, these shapes are so variable, I have seen absolutely stunning radiants with larger table than depth proportions and so forth. It's possible you are seeing a bow tie effect which can sometimes resemble a tilt window, your diamond sounds lovely and I honestly wouldn't worry. Many are the things you love about it by the sound of it and it was given to you as a very special gift. It's natural to overanalyse a new purchase, especially with all the info here but that wears off usually quite quickly, you are not alone and many of us have been there. Your Husband bought you a diamond he thought you would love to adorn you and we would love to see some photos of it! Try outside with macro and no flash and the sun behind you, if you can't keep the camera steady, rig up a little tripod and keep both ring and camera as steady as you can.

Many congratulations on your new ring!

thank you so much for your kind words. I do really love the setting, the diamond and my wonderful husband. The only thing that I was getting bothered by was the fact that when I tilt the ring past a certain angle, the top quarter of the diamond seems to become, I don't know how to describe it, see through? Looking face on, it is awesome though and the D colour is simply amazing. I will try and take some photos and stop worrying about such a little thing!

Thanks again :twirl:

You are welcome! We have all been there, second guessing such an important purchase is natural I believe. I don't think you need to worry either about the tilt window, it can be fun to play with stones and notice things about them but it's easy to scare yourself too! I remember with one of my first diamonds years ago, it had a feather inclusion that worried me terribly, but it wasn't anything of concern as I had it checked out and I eventually stopped worrying and didn't notice it anymore, I just enjoyed the stone. Your ring is new and I think as you wear it you will really enjoy it's beauty and the love with which it was given and if you ever notice the tiny area in question, you will think of it as just an effect your ring shows at a certain angle.

Now we just need some photos...!!!
