so, in my first post I stated how badly my cats were fighting and all the bad behavior. I have a male and female. I thought my male was the one with the issue as he seemed to be acting out the most. Turns out that my female was not fixed and in heat! Somehow she slipped through the humane society cracks and ended up at petsmart for adoption without being fixed. Looking back it makes perfect sense! She was so moody, would pace all over cooing and howling, she would rub all over the floor and was ALWAYS restless. She seemed so unhappy, none of her favorite foods or treats interested her and she would get snappy with us if we tried to pet her (before she was super cuddly)

She''s at the humane society tonight being fixed on their dime and my male cat is back to his happy, loving self

Thanks for the update. I''m glad you checked with the SPCA or a vet before taking more drastic steps like trimming the size of your household!

I hope fixing your female also takes care of the problem!

Glad to hear they figured it out!!

Thank you for the update

hopefully it''ll be smooth(er) sailing!

Yeah! I hope they get along now.

I''m so glad you found out now before you had a pregnant kitty!!

oh wow... I guess things like that DO happen!!! Glad they are making good on their part.

Yay... Peace and harmony to follow :)

Oh geezzz...thats a really bad screwup...(I know they do have to deal with a lot of animals though). So glad you
were able to figure out the problem. You will have a much nicer household after this!

My cats, both spayed females, fought for 12 years before Miss Mina passed away in December. She was half Heidi''s size and always the aggressor though Orientals are usually very loving.
We thought Heidi would be glad to be an "only cat" but she is surprisingly lonely and cries all the time. So we have a newborn male Oriental kitten reserved and will be able to bring him home in April. We''re hoping she will nurture him and he will think of her as a mother figure.

LOL! It''s so odd the way kittys work

One of my cats when I was growing up would throw up all night long if the furniture was moved

When it''s nice outside Skye likes to sunbathe in our front yard. In the winter he''ll step outside the door, see the snow or rain and walk back inside with his tail twitching, ears back and making short angry meows at me (as if I can fix it and make the sun come out!

Bells is mad in the photo because our dog keeps trying to kiss her

That is so funny about Skye and the weather. We once had a cat that blamed us when the day was anything less than perfect. It got to the point where all we had to say was "It''s raining Reggie" and he would lie down and go to sleep without even checking for himself.

Cats are sooooo weird. We had a boy cat once that we had neutered. A few years later "he" had kittens. Still haven''t figured out what the heck happened there! My current cat growls like a tiger at the litter box if it isn''t perfectly completely scooped clean when he gets in it (then he tries to bury the whole box). Like I said, cats are weird!

My mom had something similar happen. Her enormous black boy kitty was taken to the vet for neutering along with his sis when he was a kitten. 16 or 17 years later, a vet asked my mom why she''d never neutered her cat! Explained the spraying and general grumpiness all too well. By that time he had cancer, so he was never fixed.

Our older boy is fixed because he likes to go outside. Our little girl isnt because she is afraid of EVERYTHING and especially outside and we knew that he was fixed so we were good. She goes into heat and does her wiggle on the carpet and her weird meows and the male tries his best. I have never seen cats mate so I am not sure what exactly is supposed to happen, but he is way off.

She lays down and he stands on her with his hind feet and bites the back of her neck. He continually stamps his feet as if he cant get good footing and this goes on for several minutes. He is nowhere near her. Their bodies are at least 4 inches apart. After a little while she will get frustrated and hiss at him and walk away. He obviously has no clue. I think it is because he doesnt have his marbles to feed hormones, but DH said that even if he has a vasectomy he would still know what to do and so should our cat.

Skye was doing that a lot to Bells, but they would then turn into full on cat fights. I wonder if males are impotant after being fixed?
