Can anyone comment on the following e-vendors that sell Canadian diamonds? Has anyone dealt with them and were/are satisfied? Or can anyone suggest a Canadian diamond vendor not on the list that they''ve had good experience with? Thank you very much! This forum is great for a newbie like me!

Why only Canadian?

NiceIce (www.niceice.com) were very helpful to me when I was looking for a Canadian diamond. They're very picky about what constitutes a good cut, so they're great if you're looking for something with great sparkle.

Wonka27,

I want to be sure that the diamond I buy for my girl is not a blood diamond. For me, it would be like buying a Volkswagen in 1943. But that's just my own personal view.

You might want to search in here. Someone posted comments or an article about blood stones making it into canada and then being certified as canadian even though they aren't.

Thank you denverappraiser.

I knew I saw it but you are certainly more qualified to speak of its merits.

Given the nature of andrewk's desire for a Canadian diamond, I thought I'd bring it up. I thought it might be informative for him.

wonka27 and denverappraiser,

Thank you both for your comments. I really appreciate them. Wonka27, thanks for mentioning the article anyway. I appreciate the helpful intent, even if the article has been debunked by more trusted voices on this forum, including denverappraiser (and others, who had discussed it in a thread some time ago).

I can't wait for the call from the jeweler letting me know the diamonds have arrived for inspection!

I'm not sure about that denverappraiser...this sounds like a serious document reported in Rap News..."A declassified Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) report"...http://www.diamonds.net/news/newsitem.asp?num=9956&type=all&topic=all

"is at risk from East European crime syndicates that could illegally mix "

Well, I guess I could mix a few in too. Nothing is impossible, but I can tell you the Canadian Government is taking this very seriously and is watching it's diamond market very closely.

Best of luck with your Canadian purchase, I like it...

I'll try to dig up that CSIS report. This is a pretty serious charge that is being leveled against the Canadian authorities. Of course there is a potential for criminal involvement in anything. The question is whether the risk is significant. I'll do some homework and see what I can learn. In the meantime, I'll stand my prior statement that the Certificate of Authenticity issued by the Canadian government is reliable evidence that the subject stone is a product of Canada.
