Can you help identify the cut of diamond?

Hi all

I have a ring in my jewelery box that I find beautiful but rarely wear as it is a solitaire style (like my engagement ring). Was second hand ring bought here in Australia.

Can anyone help me identify what type of "cut" the diamond may be? It is very sparkly but seems to behave differently from my H&A modern round brilliant. Definitely seems to have softer, rounder flashes of light.

I have tried to take close pictures of the facet pattern. Any ideas? It has a slightly smaller table but I don't have any other details.

Does it have a small hole in the middle? It looks very much like an Old European Cut (OEC) or an Old Mine Cut (OMC) from the pictures.
If it’s one of those, it’ll likely have a higher crown and look a bit like a flower under the table. I love the setting it’s in - it looks like a buttercup

Yes the crown is much higher than my modern diamond and does seem to have culet (although I've never noticed it from just looking- only with camera zoomed in).

Have been looking at loose diamonds online (certed OECs) and it definitely looks similar to them- even if slightly out of round (some oecs seem to be imperfectly round) - yay!

Ring appears to be platinum head & 18ct gold band

Usually the more rounder ones are OEC and the cushiony tend to be OMC. If it’s got a small high table with petals under the table then it’s probably an OEC. A Maltese cross look under the table is more likely to be an OMC.
I’ve seen some tables of table size/crown height etc but I’m not sure how strictly you can follow them given that the diamond cutters were doing quite a few different things to maximise sparkle etc around this time. Have a read of American Cut by Gilbertson if you’re interested in how the cuts evolved. It’s really interesting.
