hi all,

i was discussing this over on the roberto coin thread, so i thought i would start a new thread here. xmas is fast approaching, and as i have diamonds on the brain (as always) i was hoping that you all could help me think of a cute, relatively inexpensive ($600 or less?) diamond-related (of course!) present that i can reasonably ask my FI to buy me. (i JUST got my e-ring so i definitely don't want to ask for anything too extravagant. nor would i get it if i did ask.

i was thinking that a little pave pendant might be a good idea. i have a three stone pendant that i wear almost every day, but i think i could definitely work another one into the rotation!

has anyone seen anything cute that i might like (or does anyone have any suggestions for designers or websites where i can browse)? i am not really a heart/initial/little diamond shoe/purse/martini glass kind of person--i think those pendants are nice but they're just not really "me".

i do really like the roberto coin circle of love style pendants that people here have been talking about lately (Jflo just got one very similar to that, i think) but i'm not sure whether the half inch circle would be too small, and the full inch circle is $1300, which seems like a lot to me. anyone seen anything similar elsewhere? i might also like a star (roberto coin also makes one of these too, but it's not really a "true" star shape) or some other kind of design. i'm open to ideas!

also this is not a "must" but my current pendant sits a bit below my collarbone and is elongated, for lack of a better word--it's one of those with the three little diamonds in a vertical row. it might be nice to have something not elongated (a roundish or squarish shape) that sits a little higher, perhaps right in the hollow of my neck. does that make any sense? because my other pendant doesn't really work with some shirts (the non low-cut ones!).

i know you guys are jewelry fanatics, so please, bring on the ideas!

Edited to add: oops, i thought i was posting this in DH. sorry.

Hi Reena,

I have been looking for the same thing...and am having a hard time finding ones I like too.

But I saw these at 23rdstreetjewelers.com and think they are unique and really beautiful.

It''s their Platinum "Edwardian Collection" diamond necklaces with a .30 carat round brilliant, 0.20 carat cushion cut, and 0.73 carat rose cut center

thanks libster! i really like the cheerio . . . i like the way that the chain attaches to the pendant on the side instead of the pendant being strung through the chain. are you familiar at all with that designer?

ivana . . . wow. those are just beautiful. (but probably out of my little price range here . . .)

Ooooh, that 23rdstreetjewelry.com has some exquisite pieces...DROOL.

Reena,
I''m not familiar with the designer. I''m not sure how I came across the website, possibly from www.dailycandy.com. I bookmarked it at some point thinking I''d buy that cross

Maybe you will have the opportunity to pay the store a visit and check out the workmanship?

OMG- I am in the same boat= but I''m trying to get the solitaire bezel set pendant done.
I''ve emailed the Ps999 guy and he doesn''t email back.
I should probably just wait- or drive my tail up to see Morris!!!

cool! i can''t tell how small it is, but im thinking around the size of a quarter is what i''m looking for. it''s just so hard to know without trying these things on!

I think I''ve been thinking of a neck piece of some kind too. I was thinking more of a getting an omega necklace and then some kind of slide for it that had diamonds on it. Then I could change it out or put more in the ''rotation'' as Reena mentioned. Anybody seen anything nice along these lines?

I have an omega that I love. It is reversable so one side is white gold and the other is yellow gold. It was purchased by my hubby at a local jewelry store. You could probably find something online if that interests you. I like it because I wear both color metals...I like options lol!

Is Omega a brand name or is it a type of chain? I LOVE the style of the circular chain with a slide, and i''ve been hinting about one for x-mas, but i told him it was called an omega" chain, when i have no idea what that really means. And where can I get a white gold one? Anyone? Bueller? Thanks ! (Sorry to hone in on your post reena!)

LOVED the diamond.com necklace by the way.

okay, here are some pretty pendants from fortunoff (thanks for the recommendation jflo) that i'm liking right now. opinons (candid ones)?

i think the circle is still my favorite, but it must be TEENSY if it is only 0.16 carats. the site doesn't give measurements, and it's so hard to tell with nothing there for scale.

the other thing is that i think i prefer the circle pendants without the edge of white gold surrounding them that the fortunoff appers to have--more like the roberto coin and jennifer's.

what do you all think?

Reena, all of the pendants look so pretty! I think I like the 3rd on the best.

I really want a diamond solitaire pendant! But I think I need to stop my diamond obsession. Diamonds are so pretty but expensive!

Treysar, yes, omega is a type of ''chain'' - at least as that''s what I would call it. Sometimes you can get a reversible one - like the one mentioned by someone else - that is white gold on one side and yellow gold on the other. Then you would have more options about what to wear with it - and we ALL know how women LOVE options! And Reena, I think my favorites of your choices are the circle but I really like the star. I might like the circle better if I could see it in person or something to relate to about the size but I think the star would also be classic and I don''t think the size would matter so much, imo. Let us know which one you decide.

I really prefer the circle. It''s just less precious.

I like both the circle and the star.

Hey, another idea would be to take your $600 and buy a loose diamond and THEN for valentine''s day have your fiance put together a pretty pendant with a pave ring around it like those settings that of 23rd street jewelers. Wouldn''t this be gorgeous?

That Fortunoff circle is .10 less than the superbcert one and $4.00 less. I HATE fortunoff. You''d do better on ebay.

Hey, I have a heart pendant just like the one you posted, I got it last month as an early birthday gift from my aunt.

okay, i am now completely enamored of this roberto coin necklace that kayla has! i love it! i hope she doesn''t mind if i post the pic that she posted here!

*drool* I LOVE that star necklace!

Here is another closeup of the RC butterfly and the star.

kayla, any chance you know the approximate carat weight of the star? (just so that i can compare it to the RC pendants i have been able to find online and figure out how much it might cost.) thanks!

Here is both on the neck....

I honestly don't know.

I only know that it a bigger than the heart, about as big as the flower.

It definitely has more points in diamonds than the Star of David. The butterfly has .31, so if you compare the size of the butterfly, I would guess about .10 to 15 points.
If you call topper's they can actually give you the exact weight, that was how I got the weight for the butterfly.

One thing I can tell you, the diamonds vary in size depending on the placing in the pendant. I know when I louped my butterfly, the diamonds down the center are bigger than the ones on the wings. Kind of cool that they took that much detail into account!
Also, if you look closely, the 2nd and 4th points stick out more than the others, which I kind of like, too.

About the price, I got it for under $300.

Edited to add, I got it at Bailey, Banks, and Biddle.

wow, you did well!

who knew that you could get cute diamond jewelry for such great prices? maybe i shouldn't have bothered with the e-ring!

i think im going to head over to that NYC store you recommended and try a few on for size. who knows; i may end up liking one on that i didn't like as much in the picture. i'll cross my fingers that they have the star! but if not, perhaps they will order it for me. (ooops--i mean for my FI! that's right, i keep forgetting--this is suppsed to be a gift!)

thanks for all the help kayla!

PS--which length chain did you go for on the star?

As I had mentioned in the other RC thread, the necklace came with two holes, one at the 16 inch length and the other at the 14 or 15 inch length.
The picture I posted above (with the butterfly) is at the 16 inch length.

This picture I am posting is at the 14/15 inch length. It falls right into the nape of my neck.

By the way, the butterfly pendant has a 15 1/2 inch chain, but seems to sit lower because it is bigger.

oh! i see what you mean now. i was confused. that''s very cool. i like the length you have it at in that pic because it sits up higher than my current pendant that way.

oh, i am so excited!
