Can I mix diamond shapes?

I have a 1 carat princess cut E-ring in a Tiffany replica setting, would a wedder with channel set RBs and millgrain edge look OK?
I personally think it might soften the look of the E-ring which looks quite modern, simple and clean. I would like to achieve a look that could work better with vintage pieces and thought the RB/millgrain might do the trick.
I am also not too keen on princess cuts in the wedder as I don't like matchy matchy and think it can sometimes look a bit cheap mall-stallish.

Thoughts?...Photos?...

I would be very grateful for any links to similar discussions too.

My own set is definitely non-matchy, and it mixes an EC with RBs. I am a fan of non-matchy sets!

This is my wedding set:

Even less matchy = my wedding set + a channel-set stacker:

Absolutely you can mix!!

I have non-matchy...see avatar. By all means, you can mix.

Absolutely! It's all about what makes YOU happy. :)

Yes, I think so. Whatever looks good to you.

You can have whatever you like! I suggest you try on a few bands with RBs to see what proportions look the best to your eyes.

A million times - YES!!!!!

This is all about you, and what you like, and what you think looks pretty on your hand, but you've got some darned pretty examples in these ladies rings. Really, it's about you what envision for yourself.

i absolutely think you can match!

i love non - matchy! However, tacori ering has a beautiful eternity with channel set princess cuts and milgrain on it that you might want to check out - it's very elegant.

Yes you can mix shapes, my ering is a princess and my wring is a 5 stone round...I like the stones to be different.

As long as the ring looks like you meant it that way then YES you can mix diamond shapes. I have rounds and a marquise for my current ring and just love it!

I like the look of round with princess. I have a three stone asscher and sometimes pair it with a alternating sapphire diamond bezel band--it's a cool look!

Sorry to threadjack,
D&T ?!?! When did you reset? How did I miss it? Could you give some details about your twist band? It's really cool!

Dang D&T, you're fast!!! Simply awesome twist band--it has a nice presence--can stand on it's own and looks fantastic with your e-ring.

I do like different shaped stones together--visually interesting.

Mine is the opposite of what you are interested in. My engagement ring is a round solitaire, with princess channel set wedding bands (no milgrain though!) I actually prefer round solitaire with princess band or princess solitaire with round band! I have no idea why :)

i used to love the matchy matchy look but the more and more i see un matchy sets im falling in LOVE
