Hard to tell from the photos, but seems like it might have a little purple in it which is non-pad-ish to me. I like the saturation, but some might say it's too saturated. There also seems to be a window. I'm a sucker for heart shapes, so I like that aspect, even though it's a little asymmetric. Overall, I'd pass unless it were really low priced.
Thanks for all the feedback! I also thought it was a little too pink. Very cute though. it's $1300, .8 carats, a bit under 6x6. Even if it weren't a pad, it's a pretty pinky purple sapphire. I'm going to see it in person tomorrow.
I'm not sure what you mean chrono. I'm guessing it was photographed in as white a room as possible?
@chrono NSC uses specialized equipment to light and photograph their stones. They put the gems inside the equipment in what I want to call a tray, and the machine serves as a lighted loupe and camera. All their standard photos not with a person in it are taken in this way, apart from the photoshopping of stars and pairs.
I saw it in one of their videos, and the point of the video wasn't to show off their equipment but to tell us how great they are. We can only assume ideal lighting to show off the color. I have no idea how they do the photos with hand shots of rings and necklaces etc. but those may be photoshopped, too.
I got to see this sapphire in person and it has a very nice saturation of pink and purple and some orange, but very little. There is a window but it's not too bad. They weren't joking. Their photos were fairly good representation of their sapphires (they were prettier in person though) except they look much larger in the photos. Even with their flaws they were very pretty sapphires. Maybe it's just me. To me almost every sapphire I see is pretty regardless of flaws (except really dark ones).
