Does anyone know of a site or link where one can play around with CAM CAD software to try & create a 3D image of a jewelry piece? The appraiser mentioned yesterday that they are out there, but when I do a search the only one I can find is for the stone...not the setting. Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

i dont know of anything specific to jewelry (or all that upfront/easy to use) but they could have been referring to trial/evaluation software from some of the major 3d modling softwares.

off the top of my head

http://www.rhino3d.com

and much more advacned ID software

http://www.alias.com

unfortunatly each have rather heavy learning curves if you are not used to digital modeling work. and also demand a LOT from your hardware.

here is the rhino3d jewelry gallery..

.....any other suggestions out there... that might be easier to use???

At Cadwax we offer a range of educational tutorials, designed specifically for the Jewelry trade, using Rhino3d.

Our tutorials will guide you through the skills and techniques required to design and produce your first pieces of Jewelry.

Developing your confidence to move on to more intricate designs.
