Yennyfire,

I hope you see this post. Fellow PSer - Mom2boys suggested I reach out to you. I live in Atlanta but purchase my engagement ring from a jeweler out of state. I really don't want to ship it back to them to have it polished and cleaned because it takes forever to get it back. I was hoping you could make a recommendation on a local jeweler and tell me how long does it normally take and the fees. BTW, my ring is platinum. Thank you in advance!

Hi Geisha,

I use Roger at Meridian Jewelers in Alpharetta. The other company is Brown and Co though they are more expensive. Roger's store isn't as impressive as Brown and Co but Roger's bench does good work. I'm not sure on price since he does mine for free since I've been a good customer and referred quite a few folks to him. His turn around time is excellent, sometimes while I wait! Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'll look into both but I may have to stick to Brown since Alpharetta would be a very long commute for me. Do you know what's the average turn around time for Brown? Thank you!

Brown is definitely slower, but their work is excellent (I go to the Roswell location). What part of town are you in?

I had another jeweler tell me they ship theirs out and it takes a week which is about the same for me to ship it back to the original jewler. I was hoping to get it done while I wait or at most 1-2 days. I'm in South Atlanta - East Point area. I wouldn't mind driving to Roswell if I could get it done the same day.

Call Roger and ask him if there's a certain day that you could bring it in and wait for it.

If you have to leave it for cleaning and polishing, go elsewhere. That really should be an on the spot do it right now kind o thing
