Hi All. I have a Tiffany Legacy and I want to insure it. Which companies did you guys go with? The paperwork that came with the ring is extremely detailed with the % of the cut, girdle inscription, carat weight etc. I want a company that will pay me cash value of what I paid, NOT a preferred jeweler equivalent diamond ring.

Thanks!!!

Check into Chubb...Its highly regarded here when it comes to jewelry insurance...if you do a search for it here on PS, many threads will come up...You will pay a higher premium, but IMHO, its worth it for that kind of peace of mind.

Alot of people here have used Touchstone Insurance Co. to purchase their Chubb insurance...I think the contacts name there is Ralph?

Good luck!!!

If you have a Tiffany ring and you bought it new, your insurance company has to replace it with a Tiffany ring... Or at leats mine does... I use Liberty Mutual...

I use State Farm to insure my jewelry. You can either include it to your home owners policy or get a separate policy for jewelry only.

With Tiffany it should be fairly simple, You have a Tiffany, you''ll get a Tiffany replacement.

I''m in Ireland so I can''t help you but when I was insuring my Lucida, I made sure that they''d replace it with a Tiffany Lucida.

did you guys have your policy specifically state that it will be replaced by a Tiffany & Co. ring? My Statefarm agent says they can''t state it specically but they checked with teh claims depart and they will replace it with a Tiffany & Co Ring.

no they wouldn''t state it on my policy documents officially but I had it confirmed by two different managers that it definitely would be replaced by a Tiffany ring.

Now that that''s answered, does anyone know what they would do with antique Tiffany rings? How would they replace the older cuts? Do they search out older stones? Recut them?

Wait I still want to answer -- I recently purchased a stand-alone policy with Touchstone for my Tiff. e-ring--for replacement with another Tiffany stone (I was very specific about this).

With Touchstone you can convert to Chubb (payout) anytime. I worked with David (very nice, answered bunches of questions) he''s Ralph''s partner.

They usually try to find something equivalent to replace it with, but often they can''t, then they would cash you out.

Yes, I would imagine so, but what I meant is how hard would they try? Would they ask Tiffany''s for a custom job on cutting a new diamond? Cuz even if they were able to find an old cut similar to the original, it still wouldn''t count because the stone has to come from Tiffany''s for it to be a Tiffany ring, right? Would they replace it with a new Tiff stone and return some amount in cash, if the stone was valued higher than a rmodern replacement of similar specs?
