I just acquired a real beauty of a stone - a Dream Diamond, 1.02 carats, slightly rectangular square-ish diamond, G - VS1. I"d like to set this in a guy''s ring, in platinum. I''ve been following your posts all over PriceScope, and would really appreciate any input you could provide on a ring design.

Apologies to any of the guys I may have left out.

Thanks - Gemnick

Not a guy, but... the guys will probably want to know your style.

Do you prefer vintage, classic, contemporary styles... any style information you can provide would help them help you.

Your diamond sounds amazing. I love Dream cuts.

Did you look at the HOF rings for men?

I found this one on James Allen''s website.
They also can set Asschers into it, so a Dream diamond should be right.
They do a great job with the ring virtual movies!
I would have the gold brushed on the upper side of this ring.

Another possibility is to go custom: take a woman design, ask for a wider band and for the diamond to be set lower (shorter prongs).
Prongs will show your diamond much more than a bezel setting, yet it''s less masculine.

Hi. Thanks for asking! I like bezel settings for men. I think one is I grew up being taught that as a convention so it's kind of hard to overlook for me, but two I'm a fan of bezel settings anyway. Congrats on your new diamond! Good luck!

I like this- maybe full bezel- polished- but basically this look.

If I were to sport a diamond ring, I'd ask myself a few questions first.

Which finger would it be on?
Do I want to wear it every day?
What do I want this ring to say about me?

Someone who is a huge sports fan might wear something like this:

I sure did, Marian - thanks. One ring I liked had an off-center Dream Diamond set in platinum - it is a great ring - but my stone is not proportional to the size of the band. That one may be for another project, down the line. Appreciate the suggestion. -Gemnick

Excellent point - I like contemporary style, although the right vintage piece can also work.

Thanks,

-Gemnick

Cool ring!

And Gypsy ... input from the ladies is welcome. =Gemnick

Definitely like this one - thanks. -Gemnick

Definitely in agreement. Thanks, Stephan.

Right you are, DF. I''m trying to avoid a wedding band ring ... something straightforward, low-key. Thanks, Gemnick

Hey gemnick- you can hit the Quote button before replying so we can know what you mean by "Like this one!" If you want.

Nice one, Ellen though it looks too much like a wedding band to me... since OP did say he''s avoiding the WB styles..

I know, that''s why I said I didn''t know what he''d think. But it never hurts, especially for future guys/gals searching for men''s rings.

Thanks for asking Gemnick.

I had occasion to find these photos earlier. Apart from class and championship rings I've always been attracted to plainer bands for gents. This one was designed from a verbal description (and lots of hand-waving and frowning as I spoke I am sure). I asked for plain lines and a classic look, with the ability to protect/set a 6mm RB for daily wear; a somewhat larger spread than the diamonds in many mens' rings I see.

My "guymond" is round of course, but I imagine the octagonal stage could be made square to compliment that shape.

The detail under the diamond - my initials - was a surprise from my craftsman. A wonderful gesture from a wonderful friend.
