Hi there,

I don''t have an ering yet but my SO and I are beginning to plan because we''re thinking of having a fall 2009 wedding. We''re putting together a list of venues to take a look at the next time we get up to Philly.

Have any of you ladies taken a look at Davio''s? It''s a restaurant in Center City near Rittenhouse Square. They don''t have many photos on their website but it looks like a lovely venue.

I was just wondering if any of you had seen the venue in person and whether you think it''s worth a look? Or if you''ve eaten there and think the food is good?

Thanks for any responses!

Hi lucyandroger,

I don''t have too much info for you, but I do know someone who had her wedding there and it went beautifully and she seemed very happy with how it all turned out.

I happened upon a photo in some Philly bridal magazine and it looked like a really pretty spot. One room has a fireplace, which is always fun!

Good luck in your search!

Hello! I walk by Davio''s all the time, though I have never actually been in. I''ve heard good things, though. And a big plus is that it''s super close to the Sofitel, Warwick, Latham, and Club Quarters Hotels, so it would be convenient for your guests (each is less than a block away). The one thing I''ll caution you on, if you haven''t been there yet, is that the bottom floor of the building is a giant Rite-Aid, so it can throw you off because you don''t expect a classy restaurant to be right there. But it''s also part of the charm of being in the city. Are you planning to check it out sometime soon?

dearheart - Thanks for the reply! I''m glad to hear you know at least one bride happy with the venue! It''s that fireplace that really got my attention. If we decide on Davio''s, we''re thinking of having the ceremony in front of it.

Octavia - Thanks so much for describing the area! It would definitely be awesome to have all those hotels nearby as most of my family will be traveling in for the wedding and we can cross transportation off the budget. That is weird about the RiteAid...is there a nice street entrance for the restaurant though? I guess the RiteAid could be convenient for emergencies...

I think we are gonna go ahead and visit Davio''s. SO and I currently live in the DC area and visit his family up in Philly every couple of weeks. Next time we''re going to check out:

1. Davio''s
2. Glen Foerd Mansion
3. Powel House
4. Physick House

I just thought I''d chime in to say that the food at Davio''s is amazing! I used to work right near there and it was one of my top choices for a nice lunch (especially when work was paying). I''ve only ever been there for lunch and it struck me as having a very "corporate" vibe, mostly men in business suits. That said, it could have a very different feel at night or when rented out for a special event.

Looong time lurker, first time poster...

I''ve been to Davio''s a few times (lunch and happy hour). I agree that it seems a bit corporate for lunch but around dinner when the lights are dimmed it looks like a great classy space to have a wedding! I also think the food is great. Good luck!

NovemberBride - Thanks for chiming in! We''re planning a Saturday night wedding so hopefully it won''t have that stuffy corporate feel! Maybe we should try to visit in the evening so we get a real sense of what it will be like.

Oct2009 - Thank you so much for replying! Glad to hear you think it would be classy! Now I can''t wait to get up there and visit venues! It''s a shame the Eagles lost last week or we would have been heading up for a super bowl party this weekend...Will you be getting married in Oct. ''09?
