I noticed your kitty has asthma and you started with the kitty mask. My kitty Sebastian also has asthma and we were considering doing the mask too. Unfortunately the vet told us it would be about 200 dollars a month for the canister (inhaler). Would you mind telling me if this seems right? He is currently taking prednisone every other day, terbutaline twice a day, and cyproheptadine once a day.

May I also ask how long after your kitty''s diagnosis did you choose to go on the kitty mask? Sebastian was diagnosed in September of 2009 and is currently on his second round of prednisone treatment.

Thank you, thank you. I appreciate any input you can give me!

Bumping to see if OUpeargirl sees this!

I think her name may indicate that she is a sooner. The sooners are having a serious winter storm. Ice and heavy snow fore casted. Travel advisories. Many are without power. Sure she is safe and tucked in out of the bitter cold, but she may be using a candle for light...may not be able to post for awhile?

Praying you are safe and warm little OU peargirl. Hurry back and let us know you are ok!

Thanks CasaBlanca! I had no idea. I do hope she is safe and sound, and look forward to her return!

Hi!!! Sorry, beechezz, Casa Blanca was right! I also went out of town for SO''s birthday.

I''m sorry your kitty has asthma! Pearls was diagnosed in March 09. I got her the inhaler in June 09. My vet doesn''t think I need to use it on her very often, so it is not a $200 a month problem. She probably has an attack once a month. The vet has me give her the inhaler once a week and then any time she has an attack we use it after.

She has slight asthma so maybe that is the difference? I don''t really know! How often does your kitty get sick?

Thanks so much for responding OUpeargirl! My kitty has had 2 major bouts since his diagnosis, and we are still treating his November attack with the prednisone. I was trying to wean him off of it, but with the current dry/cold air here I''ve had to go back to once a day since he started coughing again without it. Obviously my little guy has a serious case. He will have to take 2 treatments per day! I''m thinking we will have to eventually go this route because I know the prednisone isn''t good for him.

We just love him so much, and are so very sad that he has this terrible disease. Poor guy.

Here is a recent pic of Sebastian! This was right after his first asthma attack. Yes, he is on the counter. Bad, I know!

Ohhh he is beautiful!

I''m so sorry he has a bad case. I don''t have any advice, other than maybe look around and see if you can find supplies somewhere less expensive?
