Im desperately trying to find a spready OEC with a nice faceting pattern. My goal would be around 1.3 carats with l
Color. There has to be somewhere besides Ernstwhile and Victor Barbone ( ski high$$$$)
I have been a lurker here since 2013; this is an informative and entertaining forum. I’m devinately a “Thrill of the Hunt”
Person ( with a husband that thinks I’m nuts for loving rocks)- I feel at home here!!!! I feel I lead a secret life all by myself except fore HERE. My max is $4k because other things are in the works. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

@Niel is the best. Is your budget 4K for just the stone or for the stone and setting?

My 4K is for the stone only. I do know how to spell definitely ( sorry about
that). Apparently I don’t have the skills to surf Ebay and spot deals- I even try spelling Miner ( Minor) with no luck except lady Minor ring $7995.
Gotta be better!!!!!!

@Luvallgems
l sound like a broken record, but please reach out to Alex Park (parksfinegroupinc on IG). He has some of the best prices on old cut diamonds.

Ask him for a "bluffy" stone ( stones that look better than they actually are), lol.

ETA: this one has already sold, but is it something that fits your criteria & budget?

Bluffy stones, where have they been all my life!

So I’ll look but we’ll want as many eyes as we can.

Also just generally I color stones are hard to find in old cuts. Let alone one that’s underpriced on eBay. We can find some with appraisals but it may be difficult to find one with such a high color.

Niel,
Thanks for your help.!!! Yellow tint better that brown or gray ( hopefully
cut could mask yellow tint). I love small tables too, Ebay has rings on there that I have seen for literally years, apparently don’t know where to look.
Thanks again:appl:

Have you looked at August Vintage?
They make incredibly high quality vintage cuts. Because they are precision cut for the best light performance they face up astonishingly white even when the stone actually has a lot of color in it. Im of the opinion that those are much better better looking than a normally cut one with a much higher color grade (I'm no expert by any means, so take that as you will ;)2)
I'll add some vids to show what it actually looks like.

If this info might make you more flexible on the color grade, this one from AV comes close to your budget and carat size, and has that wonderful ligt performance:

It's also possible to get a custom cut, although that probably only adds to the price.
Lastly, I'm hoping I'm not committing blasphemy or walking all over cultural custom (if so I apologize!) but have you considered moissanite? For half your budget you could significantly upgrade your specs and/or spend more on the setting, while having a stone that outperforms many diamonds that were cut without as much care. Disclaimer: I'm Dutch and we are known as price scavengers, so for me the choice is easily made - I can imagine that for many people meaning of a diamond can be a much more important factor in the decision making.
See here how well cut moissanite and diamond compare: https://www.instagram.com/p/BlGpBt0gQEp/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1l3x3fd11ojts

Little Phi, thanks I will check it out.

Adam at Old world diamonds?

I will look @OWD, hoping for 1.3 ct. in the 4K range.
Thanks

I think finding an I color stone is going to be a bit of a challenge in that size/budget unless it is being sold by an individual as pre-owned or at auction.

I’m sure I’ve got my wishes that don’t exactly match my pocketbook!!
I know deals are out there, I’m not a good online picker. Some have the knack for finding HG pieces ( I would love to). I love to hunt-so I will keep looking.
Thanks
