I''m interested in your avatar. I saw you said it''s a mandala. What is that? I use to color geometric designs with my aunt when I was younger and this reminds me of that. Do you use colored pencils? I''d love to do this again. My aunt passed away at a very early age and this would bring back some great memories. Where can I find Mandala''s? Do they come in a book? Have any recommendations? TIA!

wow. so I''m really sorry I didn''t see this sooner, I came across it while doing a search for another thread and saw the title and thought- when was this? I don''t really ''hangout'' in Hangout all that often, so that''s why I missed it. but better late than never right?

I like to color the already designed ones- like a coloring book. I certainly do not have the skill to come up with a design on my own. I also heard once that designing mandalas is a sacred art in some religions. The mandalas are supposed to represent the universe, and that the different designs represent a different aspect/perception/moment in time, which is why some people use them in their meditation practices. I like to use them for this very reason.

Coloring has always been a relaxing practice for me; I find a nice spot, sit with my coffee/tea/water etc, turn on some nice music, set an intention for my meditation (I like to use this formula ''I desire... for my highest good and with great ease'')and just start coloring. I try not to over think things and just let the colors come to me, so to speak. Like in my avatar, I never thought I would pick up the color teal by time I got to the center, but it just felt right.

There are a decent amount of coloring books out there. I just got this one, and I haven''t started any yet, but I love the designs. The only thing I don''t love is that it''s printed on both sides, so I had it scanned and saved to a pdf file so I can print them off in a very light gray on cardstock. http://www.amazon.com/Mystical-Mandala-Coloring-Book-Dover/dp/0486456943/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1256255497&sr=8-1

I use colored pencils, regular ol'' crayola, but my mom uses Prisma colored pencils- she says they have great blending capabilities and very smooth colors.

Again, I apologize for seeing this so far after the original post. I hope this is still relevant and of interest to you
