Do you feel his ring sizes are true-to-size, or on the smaller and tighter side?

My engraved band seems very true to size.

My four rings seem true to size...
Do you have anything in the works?
When it doubt, you could have you ringsize measured at a local jeweller. And perhaps you can buy a silver or plastic band and send it to Victor

Sizing rings aren't standardized. It is one of those things where you'd assume they are but, nope. Also the shank width can make a difference on sizing. For example, I am a 7 in thin rings about 2.5mm or less. In thicker bands 4mm or more I am an 8.

If you are working with a specific jeweler for a new piece make sure you use the same sizing rings they do. If they are a VC authorized retailer they should be able to tell you how the rings fit, some of their rings will fit different than others based on their design.

If you are looking at a pre-loved band, I'd negotiate a return policy if the ring isn't of a design that can be sized.

Before I was in the trade, I bought a cheap metal sizing ring set (thin and thick) on ebay, and I'd send the right one in when I ordered new rings.

I do indeed. I’m a little paranoid and worried because one of the two rings is an eternity band (2mm width and thus not resizeable) and @Logan Sapphire mentioned that, to her, his sizing seemed a little on the small side.

I wondered if this has been an observation shared by a few... in which case, I would ask for a slightly larger size.

I briefly owned a preloved VC pave eternity which was sold to me as size 6.5 but to me fit more like a size 6 ... I re-sold it as it was too tight for me to wear comfortably. If I were to buy a VC ring again I'd go up a half-size up (if preloved) or if buying direct from VC I'd send in a band that fits me and matches the width of the ring VC is building for me.

I have rings from many different vendors in size 5.5 and they all fit a little differently. I think Victor’s sizing is pretty darn true to size, at least in my experience.

Thanks @marymm and everyone else for your replies. Though it seems most people’s experience is that his rings fits true to size, a few have found them a little smaller if anything. This is most helpful information, so thank you.

So far, I’ve asked him to go ¼ size bigger than I normally would ask for. This should hopefully split the difference enough but not too much. The way I reason it, I can always make a ring “smaller” (by stacking, adding a ring noodle, putting it on the inside of other rings) but can’t make an eternity bigger. I’m hoping this also accommodates for any possible future increases in my finger size (e.g. post pregnancy, arthritis, etc).

If anyone else hasn’t yet chimed in, I would most appreciate an account of your own personal experience with his sizing.

Thanks so much everyone!

Personally I agree with everyone who has suggested sending him a plain band you feel is 'perfect' for an eternity band - with doing that, there can be no communication issues at all. If his sizing is on the smaller side and it comes out 'perfect' for you now, even though you've asked for something slightly larger than you would normally go, it wouldn't accommodate any future increases in finger size anyway. And if it comes out larger, and you have to go for sizing beads and noodles and whatnot... for something that may not happen??? I don't know, that seems like a lot of hassle for something that isn't guaranteed. I would also be a bit scared of wearing the band by itself and having it fall off....

This is one of the reasons I'm not the biggest fan of an eternity band personally - I would rather have something I can resize. :) I'm a sentimental soul and I wouldn't want to have to get a whole new ring to take such future things into accommodation.

To be honest, whatever you go for, I'm sure it's going to be what YOU are most comfortable with, and that's the most important thing! :)

I - like many other people here - am really enjoying following your journey and cannot wait to see the finished product!!! Are you still going to (have you already been to?) Whiteflash to see the finished stone?!

Why is there no drooling emoticon???

My engagement ring was from BGD and was a 4 and fit exactly as I expected. I used digital calipers to measure the length, width, and height, and sent that info to him to make me a wedding band that matched in terms of dimensions exactly.

He told me my measurements corresponded to something smaller than a 4 - either 3 5/8 or 3 7/8; I can’t remember. Anyway, the VC ring definitely fits smaller than my BGD 4...but it IS smaller than my BGD 4.

So I don’t know how that would help you lol but I thought I would share.

I have a used VC engraved band that is a 6.5. It fit perfectly. My custom setting from Ivy & Rose Vintage was a 6.5 and too large. I recently ordered a ring from James Allen and a size 6 fit comfortably. While my original ER from a brick and mortar store is 6 1/4. All rings are 2mm. I think sizing is not necessarily uniform between businesses since I have not gained or lost weight or changed activity levels.

We were really hoping to make out it to Houston to view the loose stone, but with our limited availabilities, it just didn’t work out. My BF and I are both super busy and could only swing one particular weekend, and unfortunately, the stone wasn’t yet in WF’s possession for our particular weekend.

We didn’t want to delay sending it to VC, so it was sent sight-unseen, and actually arrived in L.A. last Friday!

We are heading over to California for a little bit of a road trip in mid-November and are hopeful we will be bringing it back with us then! So exciting!!

I have an assortment of rings and pavé eternity bands from Victor and all of them are true to size. I tend to go a bit more snug on the e-ring and a bit looser (1/4 size up) on the eternity bands, in part because I enjoy stacking different combinations of bands and the slight increase in size allows for this. My fingers have not changed size in the last 20 years, but I also feel like this adds a slight buffer just in case they ever do! I should also add that Victor's pavé bands are immensely comfortable as well. Prior to discovering Victor I wore several other pavé bands (some really reputable ones, too, some of which I found to be quite abrasive) and I can definitely say that Victor's bands are far and away the smoothest ones I have ever worn. They are so comfortable that I would almost forget that I was wearing them if not for the immense sparkle factor!

I've heard from a few others too now that his rings are super comfortable!
I wonder what it is he does differently from others?

If in doubt, send a sample ring to him to match. I actually sent my original wedding band to him, insured, and he matched it perfect. I felt comfortable doing it knowing his reputation. I couldn’t be happier!

On a side note, I sent a sample ring to another PS vendor for sizing and the produced ring came back too small...but again, victors sizing was perfect!

Mine is about 1/4 size smaller than my LM and others.

This is not with Victor, but maybe this will be helpful anyway...

Caysie is making an eternity for me. My fingers fluctuate in size from morning to evening and depending on temperature, so sizing them is not as simple as going into a store and trying on a sizer (crazy a/c=shrunken fingers). But I do have a band that I’ve worn for years that fits that finger perfectly in all conditions. So i decided to have her make the new ring in the size of my existing band.

The problem? Getting an exact size for the existing band. I had local jewelers put it on their mandrels and got three different sizes. Finally, Caysie and I decided that the thing to do was to just ship the ring to her so she could use it as a size guide.

She sent me a photo of my ring on her mandrel and we were able to take into account its width and the width of the new band and to size accordingly. She will ship the old band back when the new one is done (hopefully in the next two weeks).

So if you have a ring that fits you perfectly that you don’t mind being without for a bit, that is a possible way to go about things. Ask Victor if that would work.

Mine feels on the tighter side. He measured my original ring as a size 5-1/4 (which is what I new it to be) and made the new ring a size 5-1/4. I knew it was tight when I first put it on (Victor noticed as well). I should have had it sized up 1/4 but I just wear it snug.

Does anyone know how VC sizing compares to CVB or white flash? Would love to know for future purchases! Hope you don’t mind the thread jack:-)

to clarify. For some reason I thought the VC in this thread was Van Craeynest not Viictor Canera. With Victor I'd just call and ask him what to do to make sure the ring fits. We have plastic ring sizers we send out, for example.

Seems true to size for me.

Don't mind one bit!

What future purchases might you have in mind?

So true. I didn't think to be more specific! oops...

Plastic ring sizers would be so helpful in this scenario... however, none was ever offered by VC, despite my communicated uncertainty and anxiety for sizes. Indeed, I've tried on various quarter sizes at various stores, but like many others, my joints swell not insignificantly depending on the time of day or the season/weather. At the end of the day, the ring will unfortunately always be too loose in the winter, and snug/just right in the summer and in the early morning. Sigh.

Do you have to have an eternity/not sizable ring design?

Do you have a ring that fits you perfectly and is about the same width? Can you send that to him, maybe?

No, unfortunately don’t have any ring to send him and didn’t have (or take) the time to go looking for one either... I ended up asking for slightly larger to be safe. It’ll fit, albeit a little loosely, which I figure will be ok, as it can always be made tighter with a ring noodle, stacking, wearing on the inside, etc.
