Hi, @Karl_K The competition's T&Cs are linked on their page. It states in part: "The participant is the sole and exclusive owner and rights-holder of the submitted work, and the participant has the right to submit the work to this Contest and grant all required licenses to Organiser and on the sole discretion of the Organiser, to display the same in various events, magazine or on any social media platform and also fabricate and manufacture single unit of said design for display and auction purpose, if said design has been selected as Winner by jury…"

All contests like this are quid-pro-quo: the participant owns the design and the piece, if fabricated; the organizer bears the expense of the competition and (in this case) creating the winning pieces. In return, the organizer gets the right to publish and promote the entries, and thus, their organization. When winners are declared, the organizer will also have the right to hold the finished pieces for a period of time for display, marketing, and PR purposes.

it also says "The Applicant also unconditionally grant consent to Organiser to use the design submitted by the applicant for exploiting commercial benefits." in the same pdf file.

I've been a submitter, judge and organizer for composition contests many times. The artists should keep all rights and ownership to the art, as I'm sure they do here.

That's part of the paragraph seeking consent to use name, photos & images. In my experience such 'commercial benefits' would be continued use of design images and bragging rights in perpetuity, should the design achieve eventual status/fame.

The artist does consent to "manufacture single unit of said design for display and auction purposes." So the organizer gets to make one piece to keep or sell, but has no rights to recreate or license the piece further.
