CADs are hard! Help with ERD round #2? :)

I got my round #2 CADs back from ERD and I think I was happier with the first round! I could use a little help!

I originally requested that the "wall" between the center stone and halo be thin and discreet with no milgrain. Round #2 came back with milgrain. Does it look better with it? See 1st picture to compare.

The cushion halo still isn't what I want. I wanted it the shape of the 2nd picture. How do I articulate that? I realize it is challenging with a round diamond but it clearly can be done like the 2nd picture, right?

My subtle split shank seems to have gotten bigger! I liked the size in the CAD, I just wanted the single shank to not taper out right before it the split (shank originally tapered from 1.9mm at bottom to 2.2mm at split) and I wanted each side of split to be a little narrower and rounded outward toward the halo a bit more. I just want it back to the original so does the 3rd picture articulate that?

Maybe I am too picky? Thank you!!!

Milgrain or no Milgrain on inner wall?

I don't like the new one as much as I did the original.

I agree with you in that I think the original cad is closer to your inspiration pic than the new one is. That said, I do like the multigrain on the bezel in the latest cad.

Thank you! I agree...do I just tell them to go back to the original and go from there? I literally just had minor tweaks I wanted to the original and now it is farther off...

The shape of the cushion halo you want is closer to the first cads. Each of the four walls have a slight arch. The only change they need time make is to round off the outermost four tips of the halo so they are rounded and not pointy. (The second halo walls are totally straight which is not like your inspiration, so i'd tell them to go back to the first halo).

I like the milgrain too, just know that adding any type if border will emphasize the roundness of the stone, which is a contrast to your cushion halo. If you'd rather the effect to be more like the diamond blurs and blends into the halo, don't add a border. I had a round in a cushion halo with no border or bezel, and it made the round look more cushiony. Either way, you should ask them to pull in the halo closer to the diamond so there are no gaps as I swear I'm seeing a gap in both versions. Your inspiration has no gap or airline.

For the split shank do you want it to only be visible from side view? That seems to be what you want. If not, the second version makes the split visible in both the side and top views. In the first cad the halo covers the split in the top view.

I'd prong-set the stone if you don't want the bezel around the stone to be apparent. It will blend in more to the halo that way. I agree that the first CAD is more what you want, but that halo needs to be tilted slightly downward as it appears they did do with the second CAD.

Thanks everyone! I guess I didn't give any context what so ever on this ring, so here is my original CAD if anyone is interested.

Redroze - Thanks, I wanted the center stone to kind of blend into the cushion halo, so i think I need to have them remove the milgrain on the inner wall (although I see the benefits of both ways). Good insights on how to explain the shape I want. I don't understand why they can't replicate the pictures I sent them, because I don't think either CAD version looks like what I want!!

Any other thoughts on how I should proceed? Can I ask them to go back to the original and start over. I honestly just wanted some minor tweaks to the original. :(

Then tell them to go back to the original and tweak that. Designers always keep copies of each version so it shouldn't be a problem for them.
