Hi Pricescope! I recently purchased a diamond from James Allen. While at first it was pretty overwhelming at first this community taught me much and your help was very appreciated!

So I have James Allen working on a setting for me. I know there aren't too many JA custom settings here at Pricescope but they've been wonderful to deal with so far and I thought I'd at least give them a try at the ring since I purchased the diamond from them. We've gone back on forth with some ideas but they've returned what's pretty close to what I wanted. So here they are for your viewing pleasure!

Last one. So what do people think of the design? I know it's fairly humble compared so some other settings I've seen on here but just curious what people thought about it.

Wow, I had no idea they did custom work with CAD - that's good to know!

I really like your design :sun: A couple of thoughts (which your bench is much better equipped to navigate, mind) - the dual prongs look awfully dainty, is that just the CAD and they'll bulk them up for the actual casting? And the head is pretty open, and the diamond sits up quite high - they won't be able to polish the insides of the Ss and metalwork to a high smooth shine like the outsides, and with the openness/height of stone you'll likely be able to see those kinda-sorta-not-really polished interiors. Will you care? I'm the sort that would, most people on the street wouldn't even think to look, but since you're on PS it's worth at least asking the question...

First off, Love your design  I do agree with Yissie about the diamond being set high, for me I would like it lower.

I really like the simplicity of it. My only thought would be to make the band a wee bit thinner, to be more proportional to the size of the keystone.

what does the SS stand for? I like the design! Maybe set the stone a tad lower?

Sorry for the late reply! I've been busy here at work and at home with a cousin's wedding. It seems like the current family rumor is that we're next in line. I hate when my family is right! So on to the reply:

According to JA, I think the CAD is supposed to be fairly representative of the actual ring and shouldn't have any extra or less metal for show. I brought up the concerns about the height of the setting, the delicacy of it, and the interior polishing and they assured me that it wouldn't be a problem because of who was working on the ring. JA does contract out some of their work but this turned out to be a good thing. My rep told me Danhov would be doing the work. :o I'm rather excited to see the finished product!

My girl prefers a higher setting. I told her it might pose a practicality issue since she is a bit klutzy but it's what she likes!

Sorry I'm still sort of new to this ring stuff but what's a keystone?

Her first name starts with an S and she loves heart motif everything. This design works her two favorite things together.

I love the setting. It's elegant while still being personal for your fiancee. I love that it has a few small twists on classic design.

I find it very pleasing to look at - I really like the "SS" design and the double prongs, but I do agree about perhaps enquiring if the band width could be thinned out slightly to be in a more delicate proportion to the head/mounting. Just my opinion....

Nice to know JA does custom work - thanks for that info!

hey does James Allen actually give you a copy of the CAD file? Or just a few pics?

Just a few pics.

Its weird my cad was from JA and looked nothing like that. I wonder if it has changed or if they have different programs with for different detail levels.

How big is your stone and how wide is the shank? Looks like the shank could be a tad thinner.
