I have a cad for a solitaire design that has been made for PS members before including @mrs-b but always with rounds. My diamond is an oval - admittedly a short and fat one. The 6 petals that form the gallery are currently all the same size. My question is, should it have the north and south petals slightly longer to account for the oval diamond shape? The jeweller says it will look more uniform to leave them the same, and that the prongs will be shaved down to all match. I don't doubt that he will make the prongs all match each other, but do you think the north-south petals will look too short from the side profile views compared with the other 4? Or is the difference so tiny that it's not worth it?
