Buying James Allen engagment ring need advice!

It seems nice, did you get an ASET?
 
What is an ASET?
 
Oh, Yes I ordered a picture. I don't remember what she called it. I thought it was an idealscope but she said it's different for princess diamonds. The diamond is being held until Friday morning and it will take 3-4 business days to have the picture emailed to me. I think we are going to go ahead and buy it tomorrow and have it appraised. If it's not everything we hoped it would be we will send it back. To me it looks like a great buy, but this is the first time I've ever picked out a diamond. So I'm definitely a rooky. Or "Diamond in the rough" lol.
 
They should hold the diamond until you receive the picture and the results from the Gemologist, and then give you an additional 24 hours to make a final decision. My boyfriend recently ordered mine and that's how it went.

Thank you! I will contact them tomorrow about it! Is the gemologist the one that takes the picture? Do they talk with you about the diamond too?
 
Also, what is this pricescop discount I keep reading about? I'm lookin at your posts about your ring and I saw you mentioned it as have others.

For round brilliant diamonds (like mine) they do an ideal scope. For fancy cuts, like yours, they would do an ASET. Yes, I believe it's the gemologist who takes this picture and sends it to your customer service rep, along with a description on the diamond and their 2 cents. Your customer service rep would then send the information to you (via phone or email). That's how it worked for me anyhow.

If there is specific questions you have, I would suggest you send them to your customer service rep sooner so they can forward them along to the gemologist and the gemologist can take care of it in one wack while they're already reviewing the stone. For me, I had a few questions after the idealscope came through and it took another 24 hours to get the second set of questions answered by the gemologist and sent back to me.

When you talk to your customer rep, tell them you are a pricescope member. From what they explained to me, each diamond will have a different pricescope discount. Some a little more than others.

Overall... I had a good experience with them! My ring was overnighted by James Allen tonight and arrives tomorrow morning. :appl:

Thanks maple2012!! Did you like your ring?! Also, thanks for the information you shared! We went ahead and ordered the ring. We couldn't wait just so excited. The ASET should be coming Monday or Tuesday so I will post the picture and try and get some feedback! I'm praying it will be everything we want but we don't mind sending it back for something that meets our expectations!! Share a picture of your ring I would LOVE to see it!!

My ring ended up being held up at FedEx today ;( . They did not deliver at 10:30am as expected due to a really heavy storm that hit Chicago last night and caused alot of flooding and road problems. I called FedEx and they promised it will be here by 10:30am tomorrow. Oh the agony of the wait! :nono:
