Hi all,

Being a newbie and happy lurker of this site I've learned a wealth of info, and wanted to get all you good people's knowledgable opinion prior to purchasing a ring from my local jeweler's. I've learned (from you all!) that emeralds are delicate and thus would only be wearing this from time to time. image1.JPG image2.JPG image3.JPG

Some details: Untreated (per jeweler) 1.90 emerald flanked by two baguette cut emeralds, weighing .10cts total. There are four Old Mine Cut diamonds, with a total weight of .16cts. Setting is platinum, circa 1920s.

Asking price is $4400.

Thoughts about the color of the emerald? Is asking price fair?

As always, many thanks in advance!

I am not a specialist in emeralds. I have not purchased mine yet. I know emeralds are horrible to take photos of. But if it is untreated, it has to be verified by a lab report. This is what I would ask for. As to the color, I'd leave it to the emerald connoisseurs to comment on.

It's impossible to determine quality and treatment (type and quantity) from a photo. Emeralds are notoriously difficult to accurately photograph.

Thank you for taking the time to look and respond, I appreciate it very much!

Thank you for your response! I've gone in person but again, I think I'm too new to purchase any emeralds without a report at this time. I just posted in another thread asking for Recs on reputable emerald vendors, maybe that's a better place to start for me!
