I just got my James Allen tennis bracelet today!
But it won’t close. The clasp is supposed to slide I guess, but it just won’t go. I’m going to send it back. I’m just so bummed.

I wonder if I can buy something else? Meaning if I see something else due to the Black Friday sale? This isn’t my fault it’s who ever Inspected it didn’t close the bracelet to see if it worked!

Are you sure you're trying to close it right? I'm asking because you said you "guess" it's supposed to slide. If it's like a pearl strand clasp, you might need someone to show you how to operate it. I did, anyway. Can you post a pic of it, if you're not sure?

We bought a diamond bracelet at an auction, but when we got it home we couldn't get it to close.

We decided to take it to David Klass to see if they could fix it. Amy "fixed it" in two seconds, we were pressing in the wrong place!!! :eek-2::eek-2:

^^^ I am guilty of this as well. I popped on a 100 year old bracelet and didn't even bother to look at the clasp just assuming I'd know how to get it off once I slipped in the metal glide clasp...ask me how long it took me to figure out how to get it off LOLOLOL....

I have a James Allen tennis bracelet. There is a little safety bar on the back of the part that slides in - make sure it is open before you try to push the little pin in. Having said that, I found that the safety clasp wasn't keeping the bracelet well closed and I had my jeweller attach another little safety lever on the side for piece of mind.

Hope you got this sorted

Bracletes of all kinds seem to be real bast*rds to get on and off
i was trying a wee cheapie on at the mall jewler the other day and afterwards i asked her to help me do up the one i had worn that day - (mum's silver pearl one) and she had trouble working out how the catch worked

I'm bummed with James Allen. I wanted to take advantage of their 25% off sale and purchase a yellow gold tennis bracelet. Unfortunately, I need longer than 7.0" and they told me that that was all that was available.

Hi @SparklySue you have to open up the clasp (unhinge it)

Here’s a couple of pics to illustrate. Hope this helps:)

thank you! So next question is, why is it so hard to take off? Do you wear yours to bed and shower? It’s 2 carats. That’s enough for me I think. But dang I had to grip it hard to get it off. I guess I’m worried about damaging it?

It will get looser as you take it on and off.

I always take off my jewelry-can’t sleep with it one.

I think it should be ok with your bangle? The diamonds may scratch the bangle a bit…

First of all you have to swing that hinged safety bar back out. Then you have to press on the button circled below to disengage that little slot included in the circle. Sometimes playing with the angle of pull will suddenly cause it to come free.

Glad the issue is resolved, as I hate to think JA would send you a defective bracelet!

This type of closure is not that common, so don't be hard on yourself.

Enjoy your bracelet.

DK :))

BTW, when I was approving the CAD for my own tennis bracelet, I asked why the clasp did not have safety catches on both sides, to be informed they were to be added on AFTER the cast of the bracelet has been made, DOH!!! :oops2:
