at the Houston Museum of Natural Science through Oct 5 - of the jewels on display 40 of them were loaned/lent by Houstonians (how is it that I never married anyone with a ton of $$$$ ?)

I will go see the exhibit and attempt to avoid drooling too much.

take lots of pictures to post here, please....we love color stone ****!

I love Bulgari. I heard they bought back Elizabeth Taylor's large sapphire cabochon necklace and some other pieces from her auction. I wonder if those will be on exhibit.

I hope they allow photography so you can share a picture of two. If not, pictures of the brochures/pamphlets (zoomed in to the jewellery) are good enough for me.

They were when the exhibit came out here, and the jewelry was stunning - the stones were magnificent and the workmanship exquisite. My only complaints: 1) they needed 360 degree cases on all the jewelry so you could see the backs which were as beautiful for the workmanship as the jewels were; and 2) the exhibit wasn't big enough! :cheeky:

yes, I took a magnifying glass to the de Young exhibit in SF.......I highly recommend doing so!

How fabulous! Wish I could join you. I'm drooling vicariously.

I went with two friends not particularly jewelry lovers (we went to see a David Hockney exhibit that was there too). They left as confirmed gem lovers! The colors and size of the gems in that exhibit were unbelievable :cheeky:

won't happen next week but my daughter is taking me to the exhibit as a Mother's Day present! Yay!!!!!

loved Loved LOVED the Hockney exhibit as well!
