I was recently on a trip to Asia and purchased 2 large framed oil paintings while over there. Unfortunately, despite my efforts to pack them tightly and cushion them well in my suitcase, the glass in both of the frames ended up cracking in transit

Does anyone know an easy way to replace the glass without having to go the custom framing (read $$$) route? Where could I get glass cut to my specifications, or even purchase non glare acrylic sheets from?

Hoping that someone who''s been in this situation before can help out with some ideas.

Thank you!!

For heirloom quality stuff (uv protected, etc) go with a craft store like Karl mentioned. Some of it can get pricey, though.

For cheaper stuff, or things that I know don''t see any light, I''ve also just gone to Lowe''s or a hardware store and had glass cut to size - I had a 13x15 or something like that, kindof an odd size, and got it done at Lowe''s for $10 or $12.

Wow, thank you so much for your responses!!

Karl, those links look great - I may just go the plexiglass route. Thank you.

Elmorton, I didn''t even think of Lowe''s or Home Depot - what a great idea. Thx!

Exotic, will keep my eye out for those coupons, there''s a Michael''s nearby!
