Broadway Tickets

Hello All:

Going to NYC in October. Does anyone know of a way to get discount broadway tickets? I'm willing to pay the prices I have seen on the internet however, since there are quite a few New Yorkers on this forum, hoping that one of you know of a place to obtain discounted tickets?

Worth a shot!

Thank you

TKTS, go directly to the box office, some shows have lotteries on the day of (I know someone who won Book of Mormon tickets when it was the hottest show in town).

I get mailings for new shows when tickets are cheap and easy to come by. Unfortunately, my taste does not jive with everyone else'. Shows that I don't find interesting usually turn out to become giant hits

Plum benefits.

Costco has theatre tickets too but I'm not sure how they compare to retail.

BroadwayBox provides a round-up of the discount codes from, and special links to, the shows' official ticket sellers (typically Telecharge), so it's a very reliable source for discounted tix to Broadway, Off Broadway, and Off-Off Broadway productions -- although not every show is available at a discount. The advantage to doing this -- vs standing in line at the TKTS booth in, e.g., Times Square -- is that (a) you can make your purchase in advance (the tickets at the TKTS booths are either for same-day performances or matinees the following day), and (b) you can choose your seats.

Playbill and Theatermania also have this same kind of service, but it seems to me that Broadway Box has been aggregating all available offers; at least, I don't remember seeing in recent years a discount offer on Playbill or Theatermania that wasn't also on BroadwayBox.

It's too early to see offers for October, but you could sign up for BroadwayBox's weekly bulletin:

For discounted prices on oodles of other things, including tourist attractions, sporting events, concerts and other performances, check out Goldstar NYC's home page (Goldstar also covers other major cities-metro areas around the US) later on this summer and as you get closer to your travel date:

Goldstar is similar to Groupon, but much better imo because it's geared to going out, so doesn't have stuff like the $15 oil changes you see on Groupon; Goldstar's web site is a pleasure to navigate; and unlike Groupon, Goldstar won't inundate your In box on a daily basis.

Hi Queenie! I second MollyMalone's rec that you can get tickets at Broadwaybox.com and sometimes you can find the show you want for a discount of $50 off the full price.

http://www.broadwaybox.com

However these days everything I want to see is full price and I have decided it is worth it especially if one don't go as often. Since we go just a few times a year I think it is worth it. Plus I am super picky re the seating. I like to sit front row mezzanine in the center aisle. And I am willing to pay for that.

Tickets you might be able to get at a discount for a show worth seeing would be Wicked. It was a really good show.

King and I and South Pacific and Fiddler and Jersey Boys and Chicago were all pretty enjoyable.

Avenue Q which we loved and saw twice was discounted so if you can get for that I highly recommend it.

Book of Mormon which you cannot get discount tickets for I didn't care for just fyi.
Hamilton we have not yet seen and probably not going to see it based on a few of my friends reviews. It seems like it is overhyped and overpriced. But of course YMMV. But I fear it will be Book of Mormon all over again for us LOL.

We paid full price for Lion King tickets and my dh and I are seeing it this October with a girlfriend. I haven't seen the show before but hear it is excellent. One of my other out of town (out of country) girlfriends is seeing it this July with her whole family based on my recommendation so I really hope it is good!

Looking forward to your NYC visit and I hope you join us at the antique jewelry show!!!
