My husband and I are new diamond buyers and this sight is very informative! We are a bit afraid of buying a ring on the internet, but it looks like if we want a good deal that’s what we need to do. The only thing is before we buy anything on the net we would like to see what it looks like on my hand. What is the best way to go about this?

Hi Tiny_Sissy,

First I would go to jewelry stores and try on different rings and see what style you like. Second, make sure you see loose diamonds in person so that you can see different cut qualities, color, clarity, and size. Thirdly, go to Show Me Your Ring here on pricescope and look at the Eye Candy folder and you can see everybodies ring. Whatever you do make sure you do your research and good luck!

Thanks, that's a good start! We feel so vulnerable to being ripped off. This is a big purchase and we have waited a long time to be able to purchase a ring and we want it to be special.

There are some great online venders so don't worry and take your time and try to get exactly what you want.

Taking your time is the key here. It's a lot of fun looking at diamonds, but you must be prepared to spend the time to do your homework. I have a binder with all the info I've gathered. This site is the greatest. I wish I found it sooner. Hey... it's still not too late (I'm still searching). Checking out diamonds in person is part of your homework. The best way is to line them all up and compare them side by side. The key question is... How does one face up? Is it eye pleasing to you?

happy shopping (and studying)...

Thanks! We are going this weekend to start looking and we are now armed with lots of info!! The only problem is I now have the diamond bug and I will have to try hard not to buy the first thing that I see that looks good.
