If given the choice of a 1.6 carat Harry Winston or a 1.9 carat (no name brand) diamond, what would you do? And why? Help... I''m torn!

What shape diamond are you looking at? For me, I would take an ideal cut 1.9 carat no name over a 1.6 brand name. However, it really depends on you. Will it bother you if the ring is a no name brand? Will it matter to you in your circle of friends and acquaintances? I chose a smaller but higher color stone while most of my friends have bigger but lower color diamonds. The same can be said for brands. It really depends how comfortable you.

I''d ignore the brand, and just compare the stones apples to apples. I''d hope to take the large one, depending on it''s cut and other specs.

Get the best diamond you can, with cut being king like everyone says. Personally, I think the money spent on the brand mark-up is wasted when it could go towards a bigger stone or higher color, etc., but that''s a very personal choice.
