I have a Bank of America credit card that I have online auto payments set up for. Every month on the due date, a certain amount is deducted from a non-BoA bank account I have. Worked like a charm.

Until I checked the Web site yesterday and saw that my October payment had been CANCELLED. Huh?! I checked the "Auto Payments" section and it said I had no auto payments set up, and when I went to set it up, I couldn't access my bank account anymore (the one I used to pay with).

So after sitting on hold on the phone for over 20 minutes, I finally spoke to someone who told me that BoA has decided to no longer let customers pay online with non-BoA accounts!! Oh, and by the way, they forget to tell most of their customers this!! The rep was really great about it and waived the late fee I had incurred and waived the pay-by-phone fee so I could make a payment, which was, of course, the right thing for him to do. He actually sounded a little PO'd at the company too -- they are getting lots of calls from irate customers in exactly my situation.

So BoA customers, if you pay online, go check your statements and make sure you're actually paying and not just thinking you are!!!

The bank I''m has done the same. I used to be able to pay online anytime. Add extra when possible, then one day they blocked it. The informtion is still visible online, but if I click on it I am logged off. So now I just drive to the bank and pay.

Wow!

I had an MBNA credit card and now that they have merged with BoA, I''ve had horrible problems trying to access my account online. At first it wouldn''t recognize me at all, then it recognized me but wouldn''t show my account information or allow me to pay online. I spent over an hour on the phone with a customer rep and tech support and it''s still not resolved, but they did, oh so nicely, waive the fee to let me pay over the phone. I love how they make that sound like their doing you a favor! Fix your site and I won''t have to call!!!

I''m very frustrated with Bank of America now. And after reading your post, wow! Just Wow!

Yeah, it''s funny b/c at first I was totally blaming myself! Like "Well, I just got married so maybe the name change screwed things up, or maybe I didn''t have money in the account" -- things I knew were just nonsense but I was trying so hard to come up with a reason for the cancelled payment.

I never expected it to be that the dumb bank just stopped accepting payments without informing their customers ahead of time! I mean, really!! And the weirdest thing is that it says that the payment was initiated on one date, then there''s a confirmation number, and then three days later, it shows cancelled. Huh?!

Dummies.
